The experience

Sueños y Huellas is a non-profit foundation in Medellín that provides support to children, young women, and families who live in conditions of poverty and vulnerability.

We are mainly looking for volunteers to provide classroom or social media support but there are many other roles for volunteers to fill!

Price: $260 USD/week (funds go directly towards room & board, events, and transportation costs)

What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 37 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: The extra fee helps cover the resources needed for the volunteers and supports the continuation of social programs that assist over 100 children, young women, and families living in poverty.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Beginner Spanish or Fluent English

Program Details

Volunteers support the children and young women with the skills that they have, we fix a specific schedule for each volunteer, depending of his abilities and the things he likes.


Activities & Shift

CLASSROOM SUPPORT: Help Teacher Andrea with local kids ages 6-12 (Possible activities include: teaching English, classroom clean-up help, arts and crafts, games, etc.)

SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT: Help graphic designer Jaci with our English social media profiles (FB, IG, LinkedIn). Create and plan posts, reels, and stories with her help.

*Note: Both of our volunteer roles are flexible. We encourage our volunteers to bring their own skills and interests to the table. If you have any ideas for other volunteer projects and/or events that could benefit our community definitely let us know and we can customize your volunteer experience.


Rules

LANGUAGES: All volunteers should have a command of Spanish OR English

FEES: Volunteer contribution of $250 USD/week - funds go directly towards our volunteer program and cover events, housing, 3 meals/day, and transportation

HOUSE RULES: Due to safety reasons volunteers may not bring guests to the volunteer house and consumption of alcohol/ drugs on house premises is not allowed; quiet hours are from 11pm-7am; common areas must be organized and kept free of personal belongings; respect the space and each other
