Program Details
You will be staying in a 6-bed dorm room shared with other workawayers or guests, or in a 2-bed private room with one other volunteer. We make sure to keep a safe, supportive, LGBT-friendly environment, and have had some amazing people staying with us so far :D
The hostel itself is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, but it's only a few meters away from one of the main central roads of Tirana, Kavaja Street.
Regarding food, we offer two meals a day, eating along with Lora and any other volunteers. We can easily accommodate a vegetarian diet, and a vegan diet with some advice from you. You're also welcome to cook your own food in the shared kitchen.
Activities & Shift
The members of Useful to Albanian Women have been on the front lines of Albanian activism for decades. You would have the opportunity to learn not just the usual cultural exchange experiences, such as cooking traditional dishes and learning about music and history, but also learn from women who are trying to shape Albania's future. By joining us, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to that future.
A benefit to volunteering at a hostel is that the rest of the world comes to you. You'll be able to connect not just with locals, but with individuals from all corners of the world who share common values of friendship and openness.
Rules
Since part of our organization's work is supporting vulnerable women, we need to prioritize creating a safe space for them -- we are therefore only inviting women to volunteer with us at this time. Sorry, boys! :)
