Cleaning, housekeeping and reception in Kyoto, Japan

Hi, I stayed in the guesthouse for a month. I was able to meet wonderful people. I keep people with whom I have worked in my life. The work is diligent in the details. There are at least two of us doing the shift. I find it a shame that some volunteers "hide" so as not to do the work or at least more slowly so that someone can come and help them. Essam has always been understanding and I am grateful for that. Unfortunately due to unfavorable schedules (11am-2pm) I didn't have time to explore much. Btw lunch break is after work. Hope that helps !

The work at the the guest house is pretty straightforward. Essam tries his best to make everyone feel welcome without pushing too hard. Naoko-San was also always nice and ready to help. I can recommend this guesthouse for anyone who is interested to stay in Kyoto.

I was always happy most of days spending time at the the guest house. I felt welcomed and home. Though, I was little uncomfortable about the schedule in the beginning as I had to work 6 days consequentially. Since I will be staying little bit longer, I was able to work in the evening. It kinda helped me to get more free time. Basically he will give us 8 days off if you work for a month. But it will be randomly given. If you want to change your schedule, you need to swap with others which can be inconvenient. Though, the work was easy. I feel like communication is more necessary.

I had a very great experience at this guesthouse! The work exchange is fair and you have lots of time in the afternoon. During my stay I met many new people and found amazing friends. I felt welcome and at home from the first day on and everyone was always kind to me. I am very grateful for everything and definitely recommend this place!

I spent 25 days at the the guest house, and I had a great experience! It's close to a Train station and multiple bus stops, so it's easy to get around and explore Kyoto. The staff were very helpful and kind. Of course, a huge special thanks to Essam and Naoko-san for being an amazing host and great manager. The hostel is also very clean and cozy and because there is a shared kitchen and dining area it's easy to meet people if you're solo-traveling! I had one minor issue with the roster but that was fixed immediately once I notified Essam about it. Thank you so much for everything🫶!

I had a good stay at Essam's guesthouse. The work was simple and you have plenty of time after to explore the city. Some planning was needed since many places close a bit earlier in Kyoto but definitely doable. I met some great volunteers and also other travelers. Thank you for the stay!

Essam was a great host and it is obvious that he cares a lot about the hostel and that everyone feels welcome. The hostel is homely and well-connected and the tasks were manageable. As I stayed for only one month my rota was kept to 11 am-2 pm housekeeping work. Most days the housekeeping was completed before the full 3 hours allowing you the rest of the day to explore Kyoto. Two days off a week gave me time for day trips outside of Kyoto. I had a great time here and have made friends, I'm sad to have left. I highly recommend working here, it was a great experience as a solo female traveller.

The one month there was amazing. The working hour wasn't bad and tasks are pretty easy. You will have bunch of time exploring Kyoto or cities nearby. It's definitely one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had - Essam is always kind and friendly, you can ask him about everything regarding where to visit. Most importantly, the friendship I had with other volunteers and some guests are wonderful. In a word, this place feels like home.

It was nice staying at the the guest house. The work is easy and the staff is very kind. I made some good friends along the way :). Kyoto itself was also very interesting. There is a lot to do. When you work only three hours a day there is a lot of free time to go sightseeing but you have to consider that everything closes at 5pm. Thank you for letting me stay with you!
