Voluntariado em Hostel perto da Praia de Matosinhos

This was my first worldpackers experience and it was really good! Work hours were respected. Tasks were simple but could get boring. The work was simple, but was still physically demanding. The team dorm was good, because it was at the top floor of the building so there was privacy from the guests. Everyone also had curtains around their bed. The only problem with the dorm, was that there is no door, so you can hear all the noise from the guests area. All the other volunteers or workers were nice! The location is good because it's really close to the metro and the beach!

The tasks are easy and always finish before the set time, volunteers are entitled to breakfast at the hostel, we can use the bicycle and the surfboard, the hostel has a good structure and the hosts are very flexible!

My experience at the hostel was disappointing. At first, I received a warm welcome, and there were a few attempts to create a social atmosphere, though very few. The work is physically demanding, and recognition is almost nonexistent. The organizers promote competition and speak negatively about other volunteers behind their backs, which affects the work environment. They seek people who will work 5 hours for free in exchange for a bed in a dormitory without a door. While there were some positive aspects, if you're looking for a human/enriching experience, this might not be what you're seeking

I stayed in the hostel for a month this July. The hostel is well situated, close to the beach and with everything within reach. The hostel unfortunately has no hostel vibes with little to no travellers staying there. The kitchen was also poorly equipped, however I think the hostel staff are well aware and they are working on improvements. I really liked the sleeping area for volunteers and overall really chill vibe in the hostel. The tasks are simple and usually consist of ironing, cleaning the bathrooms, mopping. Special thanks to all the volunteers and Marcia for makin me feel home.

The accommodation for volunteers was inadequate, with limited privacy and comfort as we had to sleep in an attic without proper beds or secured doors. The workload was as expected; however, our experience deteriorated after an incident of food poisoning. Despite notifying the staff, we were publicly accused of lying in the group chat and unfairly expected to work on our designated day off, leading to our decision to leave early, this also happened to the other volunteer. While Porto is a lovely city, we do not recommend this workplace due to poor treatment and management. /Malva & Sara

Sara and Malva are very good workers, they always completed the tasks according to what we asked. We are very flexible with everything, even when it comes to schedules. If they wanted Saturdays and Sundays off, they just had to ask us, however, we don't accept people who blatantly lie to us, as was the case. We have cameras and we saw how they arrived at 4 o'clock in the morning. And like we said, we're all adults and luckily we don't need people who don't meet the requirements.
Thank you very much and I wish you good things for your future! Oportocean Team

The staff was very nice and welcoming, I had some very nice conversations with them ! The work isn't too bad although it is tiring. The hours are good, and you still get a moderate amount of free time. Overall a good experience, but definitely don't come here expecting luxury. At the end of the day, it is hard work. I would say the only down side is that you won't be meeting a lot of people. The hostel doesn't really have any social spaces/events and is quite far out of the center of the city.

I felt very good, very respected. Usually you have Monday and Tuesday /Tuesday and Wednesday /Thursday and Friday off. Which is great!!! Two consecutive days off are always reccomendable to go elsewhere (as I did one tap in Peniche one time and the other time in Lisbon)

My experience at Oceanporto was so nice, there I gave a hand in the breakfast and learned how to works to iron bed sheets, the shift's time always was respected and organized for Nazare, a dear lady responsible for volunteer's tasks. My bed was in a hut like a private room even in a shared room, I really appreciated it. Every single day I had opportunity to practice english and sometimes spanish, it's also was a good point to me. The hostel is in a good localization, in a lovely neighboor where there are so many parks, close to metro and beach. Definitely it's a great spot, I recomend :)

To do worldpackers in this place was a incredible experience. It was my second home, the people were friendly. I learned and changed experiences with the other volunteers. I liked so much and recommended this place for other people. Thank you so much!
