It was not a social hostel, all guests are 50 and up. Very hard to make friends. Hostel is nice though and so are the full time employees, work is exactly as described

I was placed in a top bunk that had a very dangerously placed shelf-- the first morning there I hit my head on it and spent my day in the ER -- completely shifting my travel plans and ability to do activites. Because of this I only stayed one day. The shelves are poorly placed but for specific bunks it's just plain neglect of safety (varies per bunk). The room is small, with just enough space to walk, my room didnt have a window at all, which I didn't like. Room was super stuffy and had odd smell. Internet is spotty. All that aside the staff are very sweet, the shifts are very reasonable.

I can't say too much because I only worked for one day, as it was impossible for me to sleep. I was on the 5th floor, in a room next to the lift, and all night long you could hear it working, and then the mattress was much too hard for me. There was a lot of work at that time of year because of the Chinese New Year. I didn't stay because I couldn't sleep and it was hellish. But for people who don't mind sleeping, the hostel is really ideally situated.

We stil believe we can give chance to volunteer is over 60. As b4 accept there're others apply at same time travel young n sincerely want2 come. We think everyone deserve an opportunity even more mature. We check if it’s ok wz housekeeping work. The reply was positive. Hostel is an accommodation business. It's light on weekday n busy on weekend, special holidays. Our room r shared;most of guest don’t sleep at 9pm. tho we r sad,we learn n always welcome everyone loves travel n want to explore more!

We volunteered here for a month and really enjoyed the experience. The tasks, while sometimes intense, are straightforward and leave you with free time once completed. The staff is warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The hostel is perfectly located in the center of Tamsui, making the stay even more enjoyable. A big thank you to Peggy for her energy, Ashley for her kindness, Carry for her listening skills, and Ping for his good humor !

We stayed for a month and really enjoyed our experience as volunteers here. The tasks are not complicated although intense, once finished you are free to do what you want. The staff is warm, attentive and always ready to help. We met some great people and loved our team of volunteers. The hostel is well located in the center of Tamsui so everything is nearby which makes the stay all the more enjoyable. Finally the only thing that can define your stay will be the customers. A big thanks to Peggy for her energy, Ashley for her kindness, Carry for her listening and Pink for his good humor

I highly recommend the hostel as a volunteer! The staff was amazing and manage to give us the best advices to explore the city and the hostel surroundings. The hostel location is perfect, near the ocean, bike lanes, subway station, hikes and restaurants. The job is easy and fast and will allow you to have plenty of free time.

My boyfriend Mathis and I stayed at the hostel for a little more than a month and had a great time ! First of all, the location is nice for those who want to escape the fuzz of the city but still convenient enough so you can travel everywhere around (metro, buses or bikes.) The staff is very welcoming and easy to chat with. The work is easy and it was fun for us to work as a team with Peggy and the other volunteers. Carrie would give us our schedule in advance so we could plan short trips. We'll soon be back as guests so that should tell you how much we like the place ! See you !

I had a great volunteering experience in the hostel. Everyone was really nice to me and my friend. Work was easy. Usually you are working just 2-2.5 hours sometimes less, sometimes a little bit more and you have a lot of free time. You have a free drinking water, tea and coffee here. And you can use fridge, microwave and toaster. I really enjoyed my time here and I will miss this place so much!

I had a great time at this hostel, everyone was very welcoming & made sure everything went smoothly for us. When we asked to create a room with only volunteers they willingly accepted and it made our stay much better. We were 5 volunteers so the work was split between us & we got more days off. We worked from 10am to around 12:30pm depending on the amount of work. The work itself was not difficult (making beds, cleaning wash area, toilets, and reception). Working with Peggy was fun and efficient! Tamsui is a nice place where you can see beautiful sunsets by the sea. Thank you to everyone!
