The hostel was the best, first volunteering experience I could have ever imagined! The manager was very kind and caring and the vibration of the hostel was awesome. I felt at home and the time passed very quickly. I was helped with any questions and never felt alone. I can recommend the place to anyone looking for a social and warm hearted place :)

I had a really great time at the hostel. It was truly a fun experience for my first Worldpackers trip. The island is beautiful, and I met many nice people to explore it with. The work was also pretty easy and fair :)

Tasks: cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, changing beds sheets, cleaning kitchen, check-ins. The hours are well respected (4 working days and 3 days off per week) The hostel (the hostel): some weird guests and a lot of long-term guests. In the end it creates a nice family community. There's also a great connection between the volunteers from the whole chain (Columbus Hostel and Compass Hostel). I missed that a manager could teach me the tasks upon arrival. But when I arrived the manager was Alessia, and when I left Michelle had just taken over, maybe things will change

I enjoyed my time at the hostel, definitely an experience where the people made the place and I wouldn't have enjoyed my stay if it hadnt of been for the lovely friends I made. I had health problems during this trip and Im really appreciative of the host making sure I had days off when needed. On the other hand there is very much a boss/volunteers divide and I found that the host of the volunteers was very disconnected from the 'family' and you could sense she was disillusioned with her role.

My stay at the hostel was great, mostly due to the amazing volunteers. :) Alessia is an amazing and welcoming manager, and is very understanding and flexible when it comes to work. I do think that the hours on worldpackers should be updated, as it's more 27 hours per week, 4 shifts a 6.15 hours. The work is easy and the hostel is located right in the center of Las Palmas. They could improve their facilities (bathrooms specifically), but I understand that renovations are expensive. Overall, I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to escape the cold winter!!

Hi Leah, thank you for your feedback! I’m glad to hear you had a great time at Jungle House. Just to clarify, the 27.5 hours per week includes the 30-minute daily breaks, which means the actual work hours are 25 hours per week. We truly appreciate your hard work and dedication during your stay. It was a pleasure having you, and I will definitely recommend you to other hosts. Thanks again for everything!

This is the second time that I come back in Las Palmas, and I'm loving of this city and of this Island. My stay in the hostel was perfect and I met fantastics people, and I'll miss them. The menager was incredible, excellent management of shifts and assigned tasks. There were many activities, like family dinner, beach volley, where we spent beautiful time all together.

Such an amazing time I spend at the hostel for this past month. I was the social volunteer so I was in charge of the activities and keeping the guests entertain. It was super fun and I connect with a lot of people but I have to say the top of the top is the whole volunteers team. We were around 11 and such beautiful persons. Once again I left a place with more than just great memories and good moments, I'm leaving with friends that have become family and for this I will be forever grateful. Big thanks to our manager Alessia, such a nice person and even better friend. <3

I had the most wonderful time volunteering at the hostel and I am sad my time has come to an end! It is truly like a family here, with family dinners, morning coffee and chats, exploring the island, and just hanging out with some of the coolest and kindest people you could meet. The work is chill and relatively easy for the most part, and quite flexible to allow you to spend your time in Gran Canaria as you like. I highly recommend the hostel and I hope to come back some day soon!
