My experience at the guest house was amazing and I'd definitely would recommend it to anyone. Howard is always super nice and fun to be around, even though sometimes his instructions are a bit enigmatic 😄 But everything works out at the end. The work was exactly what described and you can always rearrange it among volunteers the way you prefer. There's a high degree of freedom, autonomy and flexibility. The vibes at the hostel are really nice and I got to meet a lot of cool people, both volunteers and guests. Malacca doesn't have that much to offer but the guest house made it a great experience 😁

This was my second time volunteering here after 1 year. Same as last year I enjoyed working with other volunteers and met a lot of fellow travellers. The fun and social vibe at hostel remained the same, and this time I enjoyed Chinese New Year celebrations in Malacca as well!

I enjoyed my time in Melaka! Some guests and volunteers have been around for a long time, and that was really nice to see as they shared their knowledge about Melaka and their travels! I suggest more clarity with orientation and expectations from the beginning (for example, there was a document for volunteers that wasn't shared with me until 1.5 weeks in! and I only stumbled upon it by accident because one of the other volunteers left it on the reception laptop screen). Overall, had a positive experience and the guest house makes an effort to always include everyone :)

My time at the guest house was disappointing to say the least ... i am sad to have to write this to be honest as this is my 4th worldpackers experience and every one up until now has been truly amazing where i made long lasting friendships with the staff and guests The system here at Ringos is unique ... you will be trained by another volunteer who has been there maybe a couple of days making it an easy environment to make mistakes in There is also a lack of leadership and connection with the staff here ... i met the owner and manager of the hostel probably 3-4 days into my stay there

We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. While we understand that every environment is different, we provide detailed shift cards, a comprehensive SOP guide, and 24/7 support via WhatsApp to ensure every volunteer feels supported. Training is peer-to-peer, designed for fast learning, and supplemented with written systems to avoid confusion. Volunteers who take initiative and communicate thrive here, as many before you have. We wish you the best on your future travels.

The guest house is a very social hostel, really cook vibes here and melaka has more going on than you expect! A lot of good food and vibes here. I mostly worked reception shifts with leading activities here and there. Thanks to Howard and the volunteers for the experience and making my tine at the guest house most enjoyable.

It's a good first experience with Worldpackers. There's not much to do during working hours and there's a good atmosphere, that's for sure. There is not A/C in the private room, that difficult to sleep with the hot weather. You can go to the gym and the pool for free. You can also take a bike if you need !

This was my first time volunteering for a hostel and I loved it. Howard, the owner, is a kind soul with passion for life. He taught me much about the culture of the region. My fellow volunteers were always helpful and friendly, leaving me with a feeling that the friendship created will go on. The whole experience was incredible. The workload was adequate and according to what was advertised on the description of the role. I'm grateful for the whole experience :)

Volunteering at the guest house has been amazing. Howard and his family made me feel at home and that's a feeling most of guest get too. We were in charge of reception but also various activities such as bike tour, trivia night, street market, going to the swimming pool, … everyone is welcomed to come up with new activities to entertain the guests. Also, the team created a great notebook to help you understand how everything in the hostel, such a good idea. Malacca is a great place to stay, a lot to do but also perfect to chill life if you feel like it. Locals are lovely. Thanks for having me !
