Christina was so welcoming and lovely though our whole stay. The guest house is nice but there is not a functioning kitchen. However the breakfast each morning were still very good. Volunteering at the end of the season was a bit boring at times but the people who were there made it interesting and fun. The worst most days was fairly straight forward and often never took more the three hours. Plenty of free time to explore the surrounding area. Alvor and is absolutely beautiful place.

This was my first time volunteering in a hostel. Alvor is a beautiful place, the beach was only a 10 min walk away. The work I did was mainly cleaning the rooms and I worked from 10 am to 2 pm. I shared my room and a small bathroom with four other nice volunteers. Be prepared that mqny of them speak Portugese. Sometimes I wished there would have been more volunteers around my age (around 20). For breakfast you get some food but you only have a microwave to cook, which was a bit challenging, but you get creative after some time. :) All in all it was a great experience that you should not miss.

The experience was very nice! We had to leave early unfortunately, but Christina was very understanding!

This was our first experience at Worldpackers and it was good. Alvor is a beautiful town and the beaches are incredible. Neither one of us could speak Portuguese which made communication w Christina (the owner) a little limited. She is a strong willed women but also a lovely and kind person. When it comes to accommodation we stayed in a room with seven beds and did not have access to a washing machine or a proper kitchen. The other volunteers were all kind especially a women named Anna, who will be there until October. So if you go before then you'll have the privilege of working with her.

My stay in the guest house was really nice, and the host created a cozy environment.

This was my first experience on World packers and will definitely not be my last. The work is pretty much just cleaning, and we never worked more than the agreed 4-5 hours per day. Christina is a lovely person who really tries here best to make you feel welcome, but the organisation of the schedule could be a bit better. There's two different volunteer accommodations. The house I stayed in was about a 30 min walk from the beach.

My stay at Cristina's was pleasant but not always what I expected. Expect to work on construction sites, clean her own house and her son's place (which Cristina both considers as accommodations), garden in her own backyard and iron hundreds of clothes for her own business. These tasks aren't mentioned in the description. You will only work a little for the guesthouse. If you come as a pair, be prepared to work separately in different locations most of the time which can be annoying if you have plans together after work. Thanks to Marcio, Fernanda and Nayara for making my experience great !

My stay at the guest house was nice! Christina is so lovely and friendly and makes you feel very welcome. It was a great place to meet other travellers as well, because there are a lot of volunteers! The volunteer work was a bit chaotic, and not communicated very clearly. There was no training, just expected to know what to do, and tasks change everyday so you don't know what you'll be doing. The work shift was typically 8-1, so you had the rest of the day to yourself and to explore. Alvor is a beautiful place with stunning beaches, so most of my time was spent there and it was incredible!

We were here 18 days, it was our first experience volunteering. Cristina made sure we were comfortable and was really nice to us. She can be challenging to work with because you never know what you are going to do. We had to clean rooms, her garden, her son's house, even a construction site. We lived in a house outside of Alvor, it's a 30min walk to the beach, so you might want to take an Uber afterwards (4€).. It is far but we liked it! It was a pleasure to share the house with Marcio, Fernanda, Nayara, Breno, Delfina and Angela. I will cherish the memories we made for a long time! :)

Alvor is a perfect place to stay for a tranquil and small town vibe with a great nightlife (Karaoke must do!). João and Gugga absolute legends, really made my time here very enjoyable. I would like to address that Gardening does involve manual labour more so than gardening itself, which at times proved challenging and not what I expected. Cristina is a lovely person, but challenging to work for. Overall I would recommend staying in Alvor for the experience of meeting fellow travellers and immersing yourself in a new culture.
