This is a great experience for nature and animal lovers! I got the chance to ride and loved hanging out with the dogs every day. Jin Kyung is a soft-hearted person who clearly cares a lot about her animals and her volunteers. She always made sure I had everything I needed. The work was exactly as is described on the profile. I had basically no prior experience with this kind of work but the staff were happy to show me everything I needed to know!

I'm not going to lie it is very hard work, you have to love animals and it's mostly caring for them, not riding them. I got to help during school classes with the horses which was awesome and developed a very intimate relationship with the team. I learned a lot about Korean culture and cuisine. But this is not an experience if you are in Korea for sightseeing this is an experience to help animals and people and to really get to know the culture. If you're looking for a free ride, this is not the place.

I had an amazing time at the farm riding school. The team needs some time to warm up to you but then you have a new family! Everyone was so sweet and helpful, they really want to best for you. You have to be prepared to work hard, there is a lot to do and to learn! Besides working hard you have alot in return: amazing food, a lot of fun with everyone and a really local feeling. All in all a place that I will never forget ❤️

My one and only advice: go there! Jinkyung and her team are so so so welcoming and adorable and you really become part of the family if you stay for a while~ traditional food everyday for lunch and dinner, going to play 8-ball, 노래방 and many other things <3 even though the work is physically hard it is also very rewarding and you get to know many people here, showing you different perspectives and experiences!! Truly a wonderful place if you are willing to work hard ^^ the fruits of your labor are more than you could imagine~ If that didn't convince you : we have dogs and a cat hehe :D

Where to start... I started working mornings and afternoons and after a few days I was tired, we had no free time for sightseeing or going to the city, after deciding to take 2-3 afternoon off Jinkyung's attitude towards me changed. At first, he seemed to care about me, but then changed, more than once she spoke to me without respect and never “please” or “thank you”. Also, there was a tense atmosphere with the Korean group and volunteers. i could write many more things… so I don't recommend this place. they need to change a lot of things to make it a pleasant place to go.

I was very excited to work with horses and help the locals. However, the tasks we had agreed upon didn't match what I actually had to do. The Korean team kept expecting the volunteers to do more and more, and even when I did, they made me feel like it was never enough. After a while, I thought I would become part of the team, but instead, the Korean team ignored me and even talked behind my back. As a result, I didn't feel comfortable at all and became emotionally and physically exhausted. It could be such a nice place but the korean team just isn't willing to put in the effort.

When I first applied to the farm, one of the reasons were because of the comments left by other volunteers. They were what drew me in and made me apply. When I arrived it was sadly not like this anymore. So if you also want to go on account of the older comments, just keep that in mind. The workers are all very nice, but will need time to open up to you. The work load is hard, but manageable if you are more people. It was fun to try new and delicious foods. The only thing I wish I had done was take more days off, to go explore, because you will use most of your time on the farm

This experience was by far the most unpleasant from all my previous ones. The horses are lovely and you get to try local cuisine. It was not the hard work as much as the lack of respect and appreciation. The environment was not friendly or welcoming, and there was a lot of tension within the Korean team. It is important to note that the account is managed for the host, which naturally leads to misunderstandings. There was false advertising of the position, as per riding and the working hours. I would recommend the host to review the concept of volunteering and get a better understanding of it

Dear Sophie, thank you for your review. We are sorry the experience was unpleasant for you. We tried our best to accommodate you and your needs. Everyone has a different communication style so it’s normal that the team needs time to adapt to new volunteers. We were having personell issues that are now resolved, nevertheless we apologize that this affected your stay. As with everyone that comes, we ask if the volunteers are fine with working full days and never enforce full work days on our volunteers. When it came to your off and half days, the team really pushed you to talk to Jinkyung but you kept procrastinating it. Considering the riding, you told everyone different things. Sometimes you said you wanted to, but other times you said you didn’t have any interest in riding here. That is why our other volunteers didn’t take active initiative organizing riding lessons for you. We wish you all the best on your travels, Team JK.

The host needs workers, not volunteers. You'll work 10 hours daily, with one day off every two weeks. You'll wake up at 5:30 am to feed the horses. The host is disappointed if you work slowly. You'll work in the background while they provide lessons and get money. The host doesn't always control herself. You'll have only one day off in two weeks. Don't forget that they use volunteers instead of workers. And you won't be able to see the cities around during you volunteering days, because even Ulsan city is 30 minutes away from the farm. I wouldn't recommend anyone going to this place

Dear Mike, thank you for your review. We asked you on your first day if you were open to working full days. You said yes, ergo you worked full days. We would never force anyone to work full days, as we know it’s a lot of hard work. Full days are also not 10 hours, but from 8-12 and 2-6 which makes 8 hours *if* you choose to work full days.
Feeding at 5:30AM is on a rotation of at least 3 people. We specifically „warn“ about physical work in our description and we don’t know of any other hosts that explicitly praise slow work. You mentioning this just shines a very clear light on your work ethic and attitude. You being scared of bigger horses also did not help, although our team tried to show you how to safely interact with them and take your fear.
Personal attacks to our team are completely unnecessary for a WP review. We told you and actually agreed on multiple full days off with you, in which you would have had plenty of time to explore nearby cities. Yes, during full working days, city-trips are a little bit long but that is why we invite the volunteers to approach us whenever they want off days so we can make sure everyone is happy. We wish you all the best on your travels! Team JK

It is a lot of fun and you get to work with the horses. You get your own accommodation which is very cosy and lovely. Also, you mostly go out for lunch and dinner everyday which is great as you try some amazing Korean food. If you're fussy it might be a little difficult. The stables is great and you are required to work very hard and work full days however, you most likely won't be able to ride. However, it's an amazing experience and I definitely recommend it.
