JK Horse Training Ground

The farm is located near Eonyang, so it takes about 10 minutes to the next convenience store and about 15 minutes to the next bus station. Since Eonyang is between Busan and Ulsan, you can visit both cities from here and there are also the Yeongnam Alps which you can reach in 15 minutes by foot, if you are interested in hiking. We also have a golfpark nearby and an Amethyst cave, too. And if you are interested in riding and we have enough time we could also teach you.

The owner is Jinkyung and has been riding horses since she was 4 years old and went overseas for training and for international competitions. The workers are not fluent in English, but really nice and helpful, so there will be no problems even though there might be misunderstandings.

This is a great experience for nature and animal lovers! I got the chance to ride and loved hanging out with the dogs every day. Jin Kyung is a soft-hearted person who clearly cares a lot about her animals and her volunteers. She always made sure I had everything I needed. The work was exactly as is described on the profile. I had basically no prior experience with this kind of work but the staff were happy to show me everything I needed to know!

I'm not going to lie it is very hard work, you have to love animals and it's mostly caring for them, not riding them.

I got to help during school classes with the horses which was awesome and developed a very intimate relationship with the team.

I learned a lot about Korean culture and cuisine.

But this is not an experience if you are in Korea for sightseeing this is an experience to help animals and people and to really get to know the culture.

If you're looking for a free ride, this is not the place.

Where to start... I started working mornings and afternoons and after a few days I was tired, we had no free time for sightseeing or going to the city, after deciding to take 2-3 afternoon off Jinkyung's attitude towards me changed. At first, he seemed to care about me, but then changed, more than once she spoke to me without respect and never “please” or “thank you”. Also, there was a tense atmosphere with the Korean group and volunteers. i could write many more things… so I don’t recommend this place. they need to change a lot of things to make it a pleasant place to go.

I was very excited to work with horses and help the locals. However, the tasks we had agreed upon didn’t match what I actually had to do. The Korean team kept expecting the volunteers to do more and more, and even when I did, they made me feel like it was never enough. After a while, I thought I would become part of the team, but instead, the Korean team ignored me and even talked behind my back. As a result, I didn’t feel comfortable at all and became emotionally and physically exhausted. It could be such a nice place but the korean team just isn't willing to put in the effort.

When I first applied to JK horse training ground, one of the reasons were because of the comments left by other volunteers. They were what drew me in and made me apply. When I arrived it was sadly not like this anymore. So if you also want to go on account of the older comments, just keep that in mind. The workers are all very nice, but will need time to open up to you. The work load is hard, but manageable if you are more people. It was fun to try new and delicious foods. The only thing I wish I had done was take more days off, to go explore, because you will use most of your time on the farm
