Housekeeping volunteer in London

**Good points:** - Location (Zone 1) - Lovely, helping and well organized team (manager, staff, and volunteers) - Shared rooms (max. 3 people) - 20£ per week for food (enough for me) **Bad points:** - Not the best place to meet locals or practice English (you have to force to do it) - It's a residence, not a hostel (completely different experience) - Work is demanding and physically tough (since you have to carry all the stuff and the load of things to clean) - Elevator is out of service about 2/3 of the time, making tasks harder Was a good experience but quite tiring!

It was an experience I hadn't counted on. Although I wasn't able to practice English as much as I'd have liked, I learned the tasks and cleaning protocols used in the hospitality industry. The team is very helpful and has a GREAT human quality: EVERYONE makes sure that you feel good and enjoy volunteering. They're 4 hours full work, they respect the schedules, and the hostel has good facilities except for the lift that was out of order during most of my stay. They gave the option of breakfast, dinner, and 20£. Also, they pampered us with delicious pastries at midnight. Would I repeat? SURE!!

The hostel was my first volunteer, my first time in another country and speaking English. From the moment I arrived I was very well received. The place is comfortable, the people are kind. The work is as I expected it to be and the hours have always been respected. I thank Mariela for always being kind and for her patience with my English and Csaba which made my experience incredible! I really hope I can come back one day!!!!!!

My days at the hostel were incredible. I met wonderful people, improved my English, explored London and its beauties, and will always cherish this experience as a dream come true. Mariela, Czaba, and the entire team were extremely patient and kind with my challenges in English, and I felt safe and welcomed by everyone. It was my first volunteering experience, and it exceeded my expectations. The weekly £20 shopping allowance made a big difference, and I made the most of it. I hope to return someday. To everyone I had the privilege of meeting: Thank you so much for everything.

Mariela was very helpful with everything from the first day. Everyone who works there is respectful to each other, and you stay in a great position by doing a business section every morning and doing a not too difficult job. I had the opportunity to visit many places during my stay. And I met and stayed with wonderful roommates. It was a great experience and I miss those days already.

This is my first in UK, before this I was volunteered in Italy. The residents here are long term tenants. It's the best platform to learn the whole cycle of hostel operation. Mariela helped me to adjust my off day, when my bf was arriving from Sicily to London. Mariela also help to changed my duty 3-7pm when I have morning part time. The food was abundance, but it 2.25km away so I took bus. the hostel has no common area, alternatively, I bought picnic blanket £8 to stay in park. We also created a whatsapp group with a few guests, to plan some activity. It was fun! Tqvm to Mariela!!

My experience it was simply amazing. The tasks are well explained but above all not too tiring, allowing you to have the rest of the day free.I wanted to thank the coordinator Mariela with great affection, she was always close to me and when I had problems, always helped and supported me.If you come to learn and practice English, I recommend using applications such as couchsurfing or meet up, to make friends and hang out every day, as the the hostel is a residence for workers/students, there's no common room and people have their lives as well as most of the other volunteers

Working at the hostel was a great experience. The management are great and very helpful, the accommodation is exactly what is needed and the location is perfect. The work load is also highly manageable and flexible. Overall, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to volunteer in London.

Regarding the time I volunteered at the hostel, I can say that I had a good experience. Volunteering works exactly as described on the platform. the host has flexibility depending on the needs of the place. As for the location, it is excellent! with markets, underground, museums, park and shops all within a short walk. Thank you Mariela and the hostel team!
