The experience

Join our medical volunteer program to make a meaningful impact on underserved communities in the Peruvian Andes while gaining hands-on healthcare experience. You'll assist with patient care, provide health education, and promote healthier living habits, all while immersing yourself in the rich Andean culture and engaging in an authentic, non-touristy cultural exchange.

What you offer

5 hours of help per day

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 150 Per week

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: Expand Peru relies on the contributions made by volunteers to sustain its programs. Your financial support covers essential expenses, including the purchase of medical supplies, materials for educational workshops, and your accommodation. Additionally, these contributions fund the administrative and operational costs that guarantee the continuity of this program. Fees are $150/week or $500/month.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Program Details

This medical volunteer program empowers you to make a direct impact on underserved communities in the Peruvian Andes while gaining valuable healthcare experience. Every day will bring you new learning opportunities, whether you’re treating patients, educating families about hygiene and nutrition, or encouraging healthier living habits. Through hands-on involvement, you’ll help deliver essential care and support by:

• Basic medical care: collaborate with professionals in taking vital signs, administering first aid, and providing much-needed relief.

• Health education: conduct workshops on healthy habits, disease prevention, and nutrition, promoting a healthier lifestyle for the community.

• Outreach: join health brigades that travel to remote areas, delivering care and educating those with limited access to healthcare services.

Activities & Shift

You will work from 8:00 to 13:00, Monday to Friday. These are the types of activities our volunteers typically perform:

• Assist in basic medical care (vital signs, first aid).
• Participate in vaccination and disease prevention campaigns.
• Conduct workshops on healthy habits and disease prevention.
• Help manage medical records and patient follow-up.
• Join health brigades to reach hard-to-access communities.
• Promote healthy lifestyles through education and community activities.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and exchange knowledge.
• Provide emotional support and practice active listening.
