Medical volunteer in Peru: heal lives and explore the Andes!

I volunteered for one month in April 2025. It has been an amazing experience. Bernabé, Ingrid and their team have been very welcoming, always around to help, and are very warm and friendly people to be with. The volunteer accommodation has a kitchen and cozy living room. This experience has offered me an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of rural Peruvian culture, as well as some of the difficulties that some of the local vulnerable communities face in everyday life. I also had time to explore the surrounding natural beauty, and improved my Spanish.

I stayed two weeks but wish I could have stayed longer. All of the projects are incredible and the people who run them are amazing.

Bernabe (the manager of this project) was really helpful from the first day until the last days. The projects are sometimes a bit hard mentally but it's really rewarding at the end.

Greatly enjoyed my month with the organization! The team was very accommodating and flexible with my interests and needs and helped me settle in smoothly. I felt I had plenty of time to explore the city and its beautiful surroundings, and learned a lot about the organization's healthcare while helping at the clinic. Although I came as a medical volunteer, all the volunteers help with project Casa with the kids, which was so fun and fulfilling. I would highly recommend working with the organization to anyone looking for an authentic experience of living in the organization!

Volunteering with the organization has been a very insightful and pleasant experience! I have been involved in two projects over one month, one with kids and one with young mothers. In both projects we had a lot of responsibilities, a lot of fun, and it was hard to leave them behind. I lived in a local family, which has been a perfect way to dive into the peruvian culture, but it requires adapting to the family way-of-life and having less intimacy. Happy to respond any question you might have! PS: even though Spanish is not mandatory, the basics help to better bond with the kids

My experience in Huancayo was shocking cause of the intense need for help which the organization is trying to provide. If you're very sensitive, like me, it will hurt your heart being there, but I still recommend this experience cause we learn that the world is sometimes way worse than our safe bubble at home and how we can contribute. This project made me realize so many things. Bernabé and Alvaro are very helpful with everything and you will have a beautiful time. The only thing I'd change is the fee, cause most volunteers don't work, for example by finding other donations supporting the cause:)

We spent 2 weeks working with the elderly and at a children's after school club. It was amazing and a completely unforgettable experience.

Such a wonderful way to spend our last 2 weeks in the organization by connecting with the people that live here and experiencing what life is like in Huancayo. We are so grateful for the opportunity. The children and the elderly people that we spent time with were an inspiration to us and we felt they really appreciated us contributing time and energy to the programmes. Bernabe and Ingrid were fantastic, welcoming and helpful at every single moment. The volunteers' apartment is well equipped, comfortable and in a very safe area. We loved meeting the other volunteers during our stay too.

I had a fantastic experience with the organization and would definitely recommend. The kids are full of love and excited to learn, creating a wholesome and fulfilling experience. In the morning you assist with a separate chosen program (eg the young mothers), allowing for flexibility. Ingrid, Bernabe, Alvero, and Ian are lovely and very welcoming. Would recommend basic Spanish, but it is doable with near no Spanish (you have to be ready to learn quickly). I would l recommend this for anyone looking to give back and assist underprivileged sects of society with a grassroots locally-based organisation.
