Cozy home stay with two little boys!!

The boys are sweet, funny, and full of energy, it was fun during play time, however, they were easily angered during their bed time routine often ignoring me completely. I have experience with childcare but perhaps not enough for this position. I spent more time in the hostel which is a 2 hour task cleaning and changing sheets of up to 8 beds, but the shared space means you will be a part of the bedtime routine either way. Overall, Ioanna is a great host and gave many recommendations for things to do, cooked delicious meals, respected the schedule, and her communication was top tier.

Ioanna is a very kind and open host. The housekeeping work is very easy and chill. I made good friends and had a lot of time to visit Brussels. The only thing I'd you don't like kids, this is not for you. They can definitely be a handful sometimes, but if you like kids they can also be great and I got very attach to them by the end. Also you are sleeping in the same room as the kids and the other volunteer so you must be able to communicate your needs well. If you're fine with that then I would recommend this experience for sure!

I had a really wonderful experience volunteering. Ioanna is very welcoming and the boys are adorable. It was also a great opportunity to practice English and definitely to become more mentally flexible, as it's a home where you feel a little piece of the world in everything 💖 thank you for everything!

I had a great time during my stay here. The work was fair, mostly in charge of cleaning around the hostel and changing the bedding. In exchange for the few hours of work Volunteers are given a breakfast meal (sometimes even dinner) and a bed in a shared dorm. The location is great to explore Brussels and close to the train station to explore the rest of Belgium. The communication with the host was good and an overall positive experience.

It was a wonderful experience!! Ioanna is an excellent host, always attentive and making sure you're comfortable. She cooks delicious food, and as a vegetarian, I had everything I needed. She's kind, flexible, and really fun! The kids are adorable and smart; I really enjoyed taking care of them. They already have a routine, so it's easy to manage and keep them well. The hostel tasks are clear, simple, and only take a few hours a day, leaving plenty of free time to explore, meet people, and travel. I also made really good friendship with the other volunteers there. 100% recommended!

My tasks were primarily babysitting, it was really relaxed and I had time to work on my projects. Sakis behaved like an old good friend to me. He made sure I had everything I needed to have a good stay, he cooked very palatable dishes adding his own signature (he knows a huge lot about cocktails and flavors). The kids are adorable, we went to the park, played together some times but most of the time they are really independent and play by themselves. The time I could share with Ioanna let me know she's awesome. I feel now I have new friends in Brussels! Thanks a lot for your kindness guys!

Loanna was really nice, patient, friendly and super comprensive. The time with the kids was planned and followed as agreed, they're funny and really smart. I did the volunteer with the father of the kids that was nice and respectful. They showed me around and explained about everything

I joined my time in the hostel with Iona, the activities were simple and she had a task checklist very easy to follow. It was only a few hours per day so you have a lot of time to enjoy the city.

I honestly have no words to describe how welcome I felt and how special my time at Ioanna's house with the boys was. They are such adorable kids, playful, sweet, and easy to be around and every moment we spent together truly meant a lot to me. I'm so grateful for everything, even though my stay was short, it felt meaningful in every way. Ioanna, the host, was always making sure I felt comfortable and happy in so her home. From the very beginning until the last moment, she truly went out of her way to make my stay wonderful, and I really felt at home. Thank you 🩷 hope see you guys soon!!

It was my first experience as a volunteer and Ioanna since the first contact was nice and clear with me. From the start, she explained how the tasks and schedules would work, which were also flexible. The hostel itself is charming, and the best part is that, besides volunteering, you get to meet other travelers and amazing people! It was such an enriching experience, and I would highly recommend it. I'd definitely go back if I had the chance!
