Program Details
Our volunteering program works in a way that our Volunteers work alongside our staff members to help with the day to day running of the hostel. We will of course show you the jobs that need doing, how to do them and what standards are required. Not only this, but being a social hostel we love it when you are friendly, engaging and social towards our guests. It goes a long way towards making their trip a great stay instead of just a good one! You will work 4/5 days a week, as a maximum of 23 hours of shift work (usually split into shifts of 4.5 to 5.45 hours).
Activities & Shift
We essentially have 3 main types of shift available to guests:
Breakfast shift, housekeeping shift, and activity shift. All of these have varying hours, but none will extend over 5.45 hours. If for whatever reason they do, you will be given the time back. What to do and how to do these shifts will be explained to you by whoever is on reception at the time. And your job is to assist the receptionist with running these shifts whilst also being independent in doing them yourself when needed.
You are also a representative of the hostel, so contributing to the regular tasks (as above) and also contributing to the atmosphere by providing a friendly and comfortable space for guests to be around you helps the hostel enormously! As well as helping with small, miscellaneous tasks.
Rules
You will be seen by the guest as part of the crew, therefore it is important to represent the Hostel in a friendly manner even outside of your working time.
