My experience at the school was incredible! The instructors and students were welcoming, motivated and kind! My host, Emilia, was amazing. She invited me to restaurants, cafes, and I even met some of her family members, which allowed me to immerse myself in the culture of two beautiful countryside towns in Colombia: Paipa and Tuta. Paipa and Tuta are both peaceful, scenic towns. Though I volunteered for a short time, I am so grateful for the memories and friends that I made during my stay!!

Staying with Emilia and working in the school was an amazing experience. Paipa is a small, calm town, not the place to go if you're looking for a party, but if you are looking for a place to relax in nature, and contribute to a meaningful project this is the one! Working with the students in the center was a great experience for me.

Teaching the students at the school in Paipa was a highly rewarding experience. The other teachers were welcoming and the host, Emilia, was always bubbling with joy and kindness. I would go back in a heartbeat 🙂

Emilia is a super enthusiastic, kind and helping person, but she also gives you a lot of freedom, responsibility and trust. I didn't only feel well treated but respected too. You will be living on the countryside between the cows and the trees. It is a really beautiful and peaceful place. There is a village not far away and maybe Emilia could even help you to get access to a bike.

Spent a month with Emilia at the school and the time flew by! I stayed in her home in Tuta, and we drove to Paipa most days (or took the bus) to teach lessons, rotating between morning and afternoon classes. I also got to volunteer at a private school on Tuesdays which was super fun. Emilia was a wonderful host that showed me the best of Boyoaca and more. Gracias su merce!

Emilia was the perfect host and what she created with the school is wonderful. Her energy and work ethic are admirable and she is a breath of fresh air. The students are amazing! Tuta, where the house is located is a very peaceful and lovely place to get in touch with nature (and the neighbouring cows as well as the cute neighbour dogs!) and Paipa where the language centre is, has a bit of everything and is very well connected to other cities and places to explore. Make sure you spend some time visiting the thermal pools and walk around the local lake also. Emilia, thank you for everything!

Emilia is probably one of the most wholesome and pure people I've met so far! Very understanding, adaptive and willing to include you in activities or change plans to give travellers the room to visit other places and see more of Colombia! Tuta(York), the village we we're staying at wasn't the most active so like others have said, don't chose this if you're in it for the night life but for someone who wants to have a calm stay and just enjoy nature and the moment I wholeheartedly recommend! Loved it!

Emilia is a great host, the sweetest and most accommodating person with a very contagious laugh! She will make you feel very welcome. You will live in a house half an hour from Paipa, out in the countryside with dogs and a cat. There's busses going into town or you will catch a ride with Emilia. The students are curious and you get a lot of responsibility having the classes on your own. Great way to practice your Spanish! I encourage to ask lots of questions, Emilia is happy to answer them but she has a lot going on so don't be afraid to ask. Overall had a good stay. Will miss you Emilia!

Working for Emilia was a lot of fun. She's a really hard-working, inspiring and motivating person, but at the same time very patient and spontaneous. She never gets angry, when things don't go as planned or when the volunteer (me) locks himself out of his room at 3am - haha. Also her students in the school are really fun and eager to learn. Teaching English to someone that only speaks Spanish really helps you to improve both your Spanish and English. I loved every second of it, thank you so much Emilia! <3

I really enjoyed my time volunteering at the school. Emilia was a lovely and welcoming host. Teaching the classes was more of a challenge than I expected at the start as I went in thinking I would be assisting teaches, but it was a rewarding experience and I had a lot of support. Juan Pablo (another teacher at the school) was very helpful and happy to answer any questions I had. This was a great respite from a couple of months of travelling as the town and house are very relaxing. Everyone in the town was very friendly and I felt very safe here.
