It was my first time spending so much time in the netherlands, and i'll always look back on it with a smile. the work was quite easy, though you should know that the rules for how things are done are very clear and strictly followed. the place itself was calm and peaceful. volunteers have their own private floor with a rooftop balcony (!!), and i absolutely fell in love with the city. don't miss the chance to visit a spot nearby called 'burgers'—you won't regret it ;)) huge thanks to Michel and Franklin!

Owners Michel (with Tory the dog) and Franklin are very sociable with the volunteers. Morning & evening reception (check in/out) the hostel/bar duties were taught to me & were easy to learn. Some volunteers do afternoon-cleaning. Donatello the turtle is in the lobby with a pool table, arcade, and TV. Volunteer room is the entire attic with 3 bunk beds, couch, lockers, TV, smoking balcony, and heating in the winter. Kitchen (oven, stove, microwave, fridge & freezer) can be used by volunteers. Free coffee from high-tech machine. Staff bike also here. A great city to explore Netherlands from.

It was my first volunteering, and I couldn't be happier to have spent it here. The owners and the other volunteers have made me feel more than comfortable. I am grateful for those months, the city is quiet, it has a nice center and a lot of parks to walk and breathe fresh air. Thank you Michel and Franklin!

In short, I cannot recommend this place. It gets 3 stars only for the spacious room with laundry and kitchen, the convenient location near shops, gym, and station, and Franklin, who is kind and makes the work light. What ruined the experience? Michel. He is the most immature 50+ man I've ever met (even his dog hates him). With undiagnosed OCD, he forces everyone to meet obsessive standards and is rude to guests and volunteers. After a week he told me to leave for refusing training beyond the promised 4 hours, saying he didn't care where I'd go. If you value respect, avoid this place.

Michel replied

hahaha, sorry Vasylyna but you make me laughing. But if you see it that way than that is fine by us as well. And even my dog hates me....., hahaha
This review is telling more about you, and also the reason that you had to leave our place. This kind of behavior is exactly what i mentioned in our previous conversation. The talk in this review is just a reflection of your self when you look at the mirror.
Thank you, you made my day. 👍

Getting to explore more of Eindhoven was a really great experience! and my volunteer group made it so special, creating amazing friendships I'll take with me through life. the tasks are as described and working hours are always respected, and the work isn't hard, just needs to be done the way our host likes it. at first, I wasn't able to da lot of reception tasks, but I spoke to the hosts about it and they really listened. Michel gave me so many tips about things and places to see in town, Franklin let me practice my dutch and was super chill and having their cute dog around was so nice!

I loved being part of the hostel team! The hostel's infrastructure is impeccable, the hours are flexible and the work is very easy. In my free time I was able to ride a bike, visit other cities and even countries, all very accessible.

This volunteer experience was everything I needed in my personal journey. Safety, freedom, peace. Franklin and Michel were the first hosts/bosses that respected my private life and free time. Hours and tasks are respected and they will help you in everything what you need. You have abundantly free time to travel around or travel in your inner realms, with the flexibility in the schedule, shifts and free time. Volunteers have their private secluded space and everything available for a comfortable, cozy and lovely experience. Thank you for everything M&F. Wish you all the best!

Volunteering here was really nice, I even extended my stay! haha Michel and Franklyn are nice guys and they will make you feel at home, if you have any issues they'll be ready to assist you. Both are very flexible in terms of schedule and everything so if you need to travel on your days off you can just arrange it very simply. They're always happy to share insights of their culture and country and I've learned a lot listening from their stories. We also have Torry (correct me if I typed it wrong) a lovely border collie who comes by with Michel sometimes Thx for everything :)

I had a really awesome experience at the hostel!!! Michel and Franklin are great bosses who respect and encourage independence. Michel trains you very well for the work, leaving you feel very confident doing it yourself. The volunteers room is spacious and provides great privacy from the guests. There is plenty of time to explore Eindhoven and surrounding cities which was a big highlight of mine! Thank you to the other volunteers and to Michel and Franklin who made my experience amazing :))
