Program Details

In a volunteer I expect them to be polite, good communication skills in both conveying and absorbing, honesty, flexibility, adaptability, sense of humour and a reasonable level of commitment. In return I am totally commited to my helpers, I am fair, direct and we do provide training into how we carry out the tasks and ask that these are followed. I take health and safetly for both my guests and helpers very seriously and again provide training for this, more on this can be found in our screening questions.
I will provide 3 meals a day Breakfast (cereals, toast, tea, coffee, Jams.Lunch - In the UK is a lighter meal in the UK and a lunch break is around 30 minutes, varied but typically british standard i.e. sandwiches, salads, savoury pies/quiches/pasta/wraps -It is not a full main course. Dinner - varied with beef, pork, fish, poultry, venison with Pasta/Rice/Potatoes/Fresh Vegetables in casseroles/sauces etc. We aim to provide a recognized mix of protein, fibre etc. On occasion I might provide fruit/desert items but this is not guaranteed or should be expected to form part of our arrangement. Anything above what I describe would be at your own expense. Sometimes I will join you for meals but not always and depending on how long a helper stays and also the time of year I will try and get you to see the immediate area and further afield which hopefully will make your experience a memorable one but I cannot guarantee this during May-September and any other public holiday periods.

Activities & Shift

The working day commences after breakfast and lasts between 2 -4 hours but this could be varied slightly depending on the amount of business and the tasks being carried out but generally the day would start at 10am and end by 2pm. It is possible that owing to the level of business Tasks for the Day might just take 1 hour and therefore to the vlunteers advantage however, it could be that the next day the tasks might take
4 hour 30 minutes and in that scenario we would expect the same flexibility we show in return. We are a small unit and we give flexibility and expect it back. The working week commences on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday and days off will be allocated according to when you start i.e. if you start after the week commences then your two days off will fall within the following week.
Out of season (Oct. - April) volunteers often enjoy much shorter hours and more days off but this is always subject to business levels. Applicants should note we are only able to provide accommodation for solo female travellers as this is sometimes shared and accommodation for couples.
