It was a good experience for me Pippa and her family were welcoming to me. The work is relatively simple, we had a task sheet to do during our hours once it was filled we were free to do what we wanted. the hostel other hand I think that this volunteering does not suit everyone because Pippa can be extremely strict regarding the rules of the establishment which could inconvenience some who would need more freedom.

Thank you Lea we loved having you with us, you did a great job. We have a high standard at our hostel, so all tasks need to meet the standard. This is not hard to do as we provide comprehnsive training, on quiet days, there is much less to that needs to be completed, so there is plenty of time to enjoy yourself either in the hostel with your new friends or out and about exploring the town and its surrounds or enjoying the beach.

I have mixed feelings about this experience. I've created some great connections and unforgetable memories while being in the hostel. That's a quiet artsy, pretty town although you have to beware of some shady people around there. I enjoyed my stay. However if you want to take part of this experience you have to know that you have to be really really comitted to what you do at all times. Every little mistake is bad for Pippas buisness. If you don't do things exactly right you can get kicked out.

My time at the hostel was wonderful! The location of the hostel is perfect, right across the street from parks and the ocean. the hostel is a very nice town, there was always stuff to do, festivals, art shows, biking. Pippa has very high standards, but she takes the time to train you and explain so the tasks are not difficult. And the work is very organized, you know what you have to do each day in the morning. I met great people at the hostel and had a great stay here!

Beautiful hostel and city. I had the opportunity to meet wonderful people there and I learned a lot about housekeeping.

The accommodation is good, I stayed in a 4-bed dormroom. The tasks are making beds, damp dusting, vacuumming, cleaning the kitchen (mostly wiping, sweeping and mopping) and cleaning the bathroom. I learned a lot especially when it comes to making beds. Pippa taught me a lot and set a high standard when it comes to cleanliness and sanitizing things. I was welcomed and everyone is helpful when I ask questions and need help. The place may be a heritage site but it is clean and smells nice. A walking distance to the beach where I sunbathed after doing my tasks. I worked from 9:30am till 1 or 2pm.

I had a really wonderful time. In addition to housekeeping and cleaning, I set up a new homepage for Pippa. Times are always kept well and I had a great time. Just an info for other travelers, breakfast is not included. Thank you for everything.

Pippa is very strict on what you can and can't do. the hostel is very small and not much to do. This experience was not for me.

I'm not sure what Annika was expecting. If the experience was not for her why did she stay so long? Annika could have left at anytime. We have very specific cleaning protocols, apart from those, all volunteers are expected to treat paying guests with respect and also be considerate when using the shared facilities. There is plenty to do in Geraldton if you want to explore. We have fabulous Museums, Art Galleries, Theatres, and a Cinema. At the back of the hostel we have 3 fabulous beaches, and kilometres of beautiful walking tracks. There are 11 attractions within walking distance of the hostel. If you want to find something to do, you can.

Pippa was very welcoming and it's 3-4 hours of work a day (cleaning the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen). Roughly a 3 hour shift in the morning cleaning the rooms and then about an hour every other night to clean the kitchen. The location is great (right the hostel beach) but be prepared that there isn't much to do in the hostel. Also be aware that the day you arrive will count as a day off so I only ended up having two proper days off in my three weeks (the hostel day I arrived I had over an hour showing me around/going through expectations and then over an hour being trained and cleaning the kitchen).

Really clean and nice hostel. You clean twice a day (at 10 am and again at 8 pm most nights) it kinda break up the day so you don't have much time to explore. the hostel is a quiet town especially with no car. The hostel is also very quiet and doesn't have a lot of the hostel

Sophia only stayed 12 days, so she didn't get to experience the hostel when it is busy. Our hostel is located in the centre of the city and is walking distance to 12 attractions, also walking distance to many cafes and restaurants. The beach is at the back door.
