I spent 20 days at the farm, a place of spectacular richness. Cooking with Chef Elmer González introduced me to new Costa Rican flavors, while every banana tree pruning, river crossing, and jungle trail revealed more about Drake Bay. Conversations with the host and guests reinforced the importance of clear and assertive communication. the farm EcoFarm is a place to fully immerse yourself in local and daily needs, strengthen empathy, and be proactive in the mutual contribution that makes everything happen. I leave knowing each of us carries a planted seed in our hearts. Pura Vida! 🌱

Elmer doesn't know a lot of English and the tasks are not clearly explained for travelers without a large Spanish vocabulary. It was really great to connect with him and see how he lives on the farm. The night tours and creatures there are magnificent. I highly recommend going as a tourist and checking it out. The jungle is a beautiful place to be.

I can truly recommend this place to everyone. It was simply magical—you can connect with nature every day. There are also amazing dogs that love to be petted.

The experience of the farm was great! We lived in jungle and worked with animals like feeding chickens and pig. Be ready to cross the river, walk up the stairs, and deal with insects and mosquitoes. Other than that, you will gain a once-in-a life time experience! Thank you Elmer and Anna for the host and help, you guys are amazing ! Don't forget to try the food of Elmer, it's espectacular !

Give the jungle the opportunity and it will open its arms wide and welcome you with a warm hug and guaranteed it will keep you warm while you're immersed in it! Bring good vibes y buena onda and the González family will bring it back tenfold. A special place and it was an honor to look after it and experience it for the time I did. Muchas gracias La Jungla y La González familia.

This is a complete unique experience & I would do it again if I could. BUT I also had quite a hard time settling into the place. Elmar has a beautiful farm in the middle of the jungle. A really remote place in the middle of amazing nature. I did not speak Spanish and Elmar his English is basic. Because of that, feeling welcome at the place was tough. But this improved. As other reviews mentioned: the work is not that hard but the humidity & temp. make it hard. I do advise or warn that if you have no physical condition and or connection with exercising, this might no be the place for you.

I had the most amazing time at the farm. We became a family. Elmer is a brilliant host who cares so much about the space and about every volunteer having an enjoyable experience. This was the start of my travelling journey and it set the bar high. You should know going into this as a volunteer that the work can be physically demanding but so rewarding. If you're willing to get stuck your efforts are appreciated. The farm feels like the start of something special. If you can do any of the tours they offer the night tour with Elmer is a must and at least have one meal of Elmer cooking!

I enjoyed my stay at the Farm. Really got to connect to Nature. Had a lot of free time to meditate & do yoga. For work you mainly feed the chickens or rake the leaves so not to bad. You do have to buy your own food so be aware, but there is bananas and plantains they you can welcome yourself to. If you would like. To use the Wi-Fi it is a $1 a day. Elmer is so sweet and is a great host. Don't hesitate to ask him any questions if your ever confused. But honestly this was my first time outta the country and my stay here was lovely I definitely can see myself returning in the future!

I had a great overall first trip. If you are not a nature lover, I don't recommend this trip. And if so, this will be a perfect trip for you. Elmer is so sweet & caring to us. The tasks were not too hard; the heat is what makes the work heavy. I really enjoyed my stay & I will definitely return. I would advise to either fly directly into Drake Bay if possible. If you are flying from San Jose, the bus to Sierpe leaves at 8am from Tracopa train station, & once you get to Sierpe you take a boat to Drake Bay & then taxi to the jungle. Prepare to cross over water to get to the farm. Great trip!
