Faro was close to beautiful places like Lagos, Albufeira and Tavira all accessible by train. Faro was small and friendly and the Portugese the guest house was in a good central location. The work was sometimes overwhelming but I found hours good (10-2) and I also made really kind and lovely friends. This was my first experience volunteering so I was super nervous but I had an enjoyable time :)

I stayed three weeks in the beginning of April and had an amazing time. Josefina explained everything on my first day. The tasks are absolutely makeable (3-4 rooms, 2 bathrooms and one kitchen to clean) and whenever there are unexpected things happening you canreachout to Josefina or via WhatsApp to Pedro. We shared delicious Lunch with other volunteers in another hostel (5min by foot). They only thing that I did not find that good was that the room had no window and there was not really a place to hangout as the kitchen is really small but we had good weather and could go outside...

I enjoyed my time here! The work is super fair, it's the least amount of work I had in a volunteer experience. Josefina is really nice and explains everything to you perfectly and clearly, and even helps you on the busier days. Pedro and Sonja are also friendly and there for you if you ask :) Because it's a guesthouse and not a hostel, I struggled with feeling lonely sometimes because it doesn't have the same social atmosphere as a hostel. But it's easy to get around Portugal and even Sevilla from Faro, I still consider my time here worth it. It's great if you want to see Algarve. Obrigada!:)

Pedro and Sonia are great host. I only meet them occasionally, yet they care about volunteers' needs. The working hours are respectful. The works are not tough. The female hostel I stay is very clean and organized. I enjoy staying together with the female guests and know their travelling stories better.

I had an amazing experience staying at Female Hostel! The memories of my time there still bring a smile to my face. The hostel not only provided a clean and comfortable environment but also became a hub for valuable learning experiences. Housekeeping duties taught me practical skills, and the cozy atmosphere made every moment enjoyable. I am genuinely grateful for the chance to be part of such a welcoming community. The warmth and camaraderie at Female Hostel made my volunteer work not just fulfilling but also incredibly enjoyable.

At the beginning there were some complications, which disappointed me. But after everything was solved, I had a really good time and met a lot of wonderful people :) From faro you can also visit a lot of other great places, for example Lagos. The work can sometimes be hard, if there are not enough volunteers.

Faro is a beautiful small town. The working tasks are cleaning different guest houses in the area. The work was not too challenging, however the accommodation did not fulfill the standard that I would expect in return. The room had no window, the beds were really old and the mattress was too thin. Also there is no „hangout“ area, so if you want to relax it would have to be in the room…. However the lunch that we got was verry delicious. Would I recommend this to a friend? No. I left after a few days because the room was unacceptable for me.

There's a set of five or so hostels/guest houses that you help out at. I stayed in the Female Hostel which was such a safe, cozy environment. I only met Pedro and Sonja once and it was brief. Josefina, who manages the volunteer team, is lovely and attentive to detail. They had us do some renovation work but when we complained they were understanding and worked around it. Other volunteers were wonderful and so welcoming. Most of the girls spoke Spanish/the guest house so there was a bit of a language barrier for English, but we still formed meaningful connections.

My experience volunteering at the guest house was very positive! The work expectations were very clear and the housekeeping tasks were straightforward. After cleaning you had the rest of the afternoon to explore Faro as well as days off. The hosts were were also communicating throughout the work shift via text and always there to help and answer questions :) I would absolutely recommend!
