I spent 2 really amazing weeks here. Meeting great people that i stayed in contact with even after my stay ended. Living in the community of vidigal and teaching the kids that live there was something i will never forget. Truly a unique experience far away from the touristy Rio that comes to mind. Everybody involved in the project is super nice and if you ever need something they will do everything to help you. Definitly thinking about coming back!

Larry and the team running the project are just wonderful. One of my best experiences in Brazil I really didn't want to leave, the project is very useful and important for the communities, the place where the house is located is beautiful and Vidigal is one of the places one should definitely visit in Rio... Personally I didn't want to leave , the group of travellers I happened to meet in addition to the people working were amazing, we bonded a lot and had a fantastic time, I wish I could have stayed much longer... I highly recommend it...Kisses to all hope to see you soon I love you...

This was such an engaging and inspiring community of friends and fellow volunteers at the hostel. The chats, events, and beach trips with friends were plentiful, and I very much enjoyed getting to work with the kids in school and at during our summer camp sessions. Can definitely recommend for anyone coming to Rio wanting to connect with some amazing people!

I didnt knew what was expecting me in the programm but i was completely overwhelmed by how rewarding and fulfilling this expirience is. It is my first time solo travelling and i feel like this was absolutely the right choice. I felt really welcomed and my expectations were more then met. The hosts also give you a lot of space and respect your boundaries, so you never feel pressured or anything at all. You also have a lot of freedom when it comes to incorporating your ideas in the program. Overall i can just say that this program was my best travel experience ever🫶🏼🫶🏼

I could not have asked for a better start to my trip here in Brazil. Living in Vidigal has been an experience I will never forget and the opportunity to teach English and connect with the locals here has been incredible. Even despite unforeseen accomodation issues, the team at the hostel worked tirelessly to ensure we were all happy and comfortable. I really enjoyed my time in Rio and I had plenty of free time to explore and enjoy this crazy city. Thanks to all the team for making it so special.

Staying in Rio and teaching was an amazing experience thanks to Victor, James, Larry and Lydia. I will never forget how connected I felt to the other volunteers, the students and the city. My only regret is not staying for longer !

I can not recommend this experience enough, unfortunately I did not get to teach a ton due to the holidays but I enjoyed every minute spent with the kids and adults in the classroom and found Vidigal to be a lovely home away from home. Larry, James, Lydia, and Victor were all so wonderful and inspiring. My favorite trip yet :) 🫶

James, Lydia, Victor and Larry were excellent hosts and super welcoming and friendly. I love this project and having the ability to meet locals and provide a service to the community. The housing facilities were constantly being improved while I was there and it has a clean, safe, cozy vibe. I would have stayed longer if I could! I appreciate the mixture of casual, laidback, friendly vibe at the hostel and then the professional commitment & engagement with the kids and adults at the school.

On a good note, everyone working at this school is sweet. However, overall my experience was horrible working with them on the professional side due to a lack of organization. The day I got there they started moving where I was going to stay. I was told so many different things by the same people, and this put me in an unsafe position. It was 3am the day that I was supposed to move into a the hostel. I had no exact plan on where to go, what time to go, who to meet, where I could leave my stuff. I don't recommend working with them if you care about these things.

We invited Noah to join in with our group chat and New Years Eve celebrations before his volunteering was due to start.

As you can see from our profile on worldpackers we have comprehensive documents detailing all details of the program.

Noah did not spend a single night with us and did not show up for this experience .

We can only conclude that the intensity of Rio was too much for him.

Vidigal is a very safe place, any quick Google search will show this.

Lovely weeks that I will never forget. The opportunity to meet international travellers and locals at the same time. And I really loved the teaching.
