A experiência é sensacional, foi meu primeiro voluntariado e acredito que aprendi com os alunos muito mais do que ensinei. o hostel é muito mais do que somente uma o hostel de inglês, é um programa multidisciplinar que trabalha com várias dimensões da vida na favela. A equipe é sempre muito flexível e interessada em ajudar, e as relações que se formam no espaço são leves e com muito a ensinar. As acomodações são boas e os horários de trabalho bem tranquilos. Pra quem tem dúvidas sobre segurança, posso dizer: não tem lugar mais seguro pra se estar.

Volunteering at the hostel has been one of the most life-changing experiences ever. It's not just about sharing time with the children and adults in our classes in Vidigal, it's about the deep connection that forms with the group of volunteers who keep this project alive. Even though I've been to Rio several times, this was the first time I truly felt immersed in the local culture. Vidigal is a vibrant and safe place. I felt right at home from the very beginning. I'm deeply grateful to everyone involved in the hostel. I recommend this experience and truly hope to come back soon 🩷

Spending a month in Rio at the hostel was truly one of the greatest experiences I've ever had. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and part of a big family. You get the chance to meet incredible people not only in the classes but also at the hostel and it was so rewarding to work with the kids through the week. I couldn't recommend the hostel more. I left with great memories, new friends, and I hope I will come back soon🫶🏽

Volunteering at the hostel felt like joining a big family. The schedule is very chill and very flexible too. Vidigal is a safe place with a truly welcoming and vibrant community. The lesson plans are very open and we all had the freedom to create our own if we wanted to. Teaching here was an experience I'll never forget thanks to Alice, Lydia, James and Victor I truly hope I'll get to come back ❤️

I spent two incredible months in this project, and I can say without a doubt that it was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. Thanks to this opportunity I got to experience Rio in a truly authentic and unique way, discovering the vibrant and welcoming heart of Vidigal and finding a home away from home in the hostel. The teaching was flexible and really gave me a lot: seeing both children and adults engaged, proud of their progress, and being able to truly connect with them is something I will always carry with me. A huge thank you to Victor, Lydia, James and Larry :)

I spent 2 really amazing weeks here. Meeting great people that i stayed in contact with even after my stay ended. Living in the community of vidigal and teaching the kids that live there was something i will never forget. Truly a unique experience far away from the touristy Rio that comes to mind. Everybody involved in the project is super nice and if you ever need something they will do everything to help you. Definitly thinking about coming back!

Larry and the team running the project are just wonderful. One of my best experiences in Brazil I really didn't want to leave, the project is very useful and important for the communities, the place where the house is located is beautiful and Vidigal is one of the places one should definitely visit in Rio... Personally I didn't want to leave , the group of travellers I happened to meet in addition to the people working were amazing, we bonded a lot and had a fantastic time, I wish I could have stayed much longer... I highly recommend it...Kisses to all hope to see you soon I love you...

This was such an engaging and inspiring community of friends and fellow volunteers at the hostel. The chats, events, and beach trips with friends were plentiful, and I very much enjoyed getting to work with the kids in school and at during our summer camp sessions. Can definitely recommend for anyone coming to Rio wanting to connect with some amazing people!
