I volunteered at Matala hostel in Crete (the sister hostel to the hostel ) and it was amazing! The tasks were fun and it was great to learn new skills. I was on the reception and I really enjoyed meeting new travellers and telling them everything I loved about matala. The highlight of my time in Matala was the people. The manager Gaïa was incredible, extremely friendly and felt comfortable coming to her if I had any issues. The other volunteers were amazing and I'm so happy I have some life long friends. I thoroughly enjoyed that there was a pool at the hostel and close to the beach!

I absolutely loved volunteering at Matala Hostel, my best experience to date. Gaïa the manager is well organised & a great communicator which creates a happy & relaxed environment. I truly enjoyed my shifts as I felt like a valued team member. I'll forever cherish my time with Gaïa, the fellow volunteers & our kind and hilarious cleaner Polytimi. The hostel itself is very aesthetic, clean & I loved all the communal spaces (the pool!). The town of Matala is very special with a relaxed community, beautiful beach & great cafes/bars. Super grateful to have called Matala home for 6 weeks.

I had the absolute best time at Indra the hostel! I already miss it so much. I met so many amazing people, especially the other volunteers!! The owner Hector is the absolute best. So sweet and very easy to work with. The work is easy and you have a lot of free time. I would have definitely extended my stay if I hadn't already booked my flight home. Thank you for everything Hector! Best experience of my life<3

Oh Matala 🤍 you have my heart! The experience was amazing, with Gaïa as the manager and my volunteer friends. The job is fun and easy, plenty of time to have fun in the city and move around. The facilities are amazing. Matala is an incredible and magic place that I'm already missing✨ Definitely a month that i will never forget 🕯️🧜🏼‍♀️ 🦛🌞🌹🌸🐠 🐚

I absolutely loved my time at Matala Hostel. It is important to note that this listing is not for the hostel which is in Heraklion but for their sister hostel in Matala on the south of the island which is where I spent my time. (Do clarify this when applying as locations are very different!) I had a wonderful two weeks in Matala and only wished it could be longer! It is a small beach side town and the vibe is very much one of chill and relax. I shared a dorm with five other volunteers. Manager was amazing, shifts v well organised and days off also. You can hire a car to explore!

I had an amazing experience at the hostel! The host, Hector, is amazing! He is really flexible and chill about everything. The hostel is really cozy and has a great atmosphere! Sadly I had another trip coming up, otherwise I would have definitely extended my stay! I had the best time & I can't recommend this experience enough!!

I really enjoyed my time in Matala, it's a small beach town so it's very laid back and not much to do but I was never bored. I stayed for two months but I think a month would have been plenty of time. The hostel was nice and I would definitely recommend staying! Also the listing is for their Heraklion location so make sure you know which one you're applying to.

I'm still volunteering at this hostel & it's been such a wonderful experience. The hostel is clean, the facilities are great & it definitely does have a boutique feel as is in the name. I think it's the people that really make or break this kind of experience & both the other volunteers & in particular Hector, who runs the hostel is probably one of the nicest & kind hearted people I've ever come across. He explains everything well & is more than happy to repeat himself & assist with any mistakes. Always super communicative & approachable. I really feel at home here

Had an awesome experience at Matala Hostel working with the other volunteers, Gaia, and in reception. Really loved Matala town and beach with all the cafes, bars and shops. And had so much fun hanging out with the volunteers and guests and going to other places around Crete. Would definitely recommend this worldpackers to anyone looking for a great beach town!
