Heraklio is a very nice town, with a lot of things to do. It's very easy to get around, as well as traveling around Crete. The work was very easy, and the shifts go by really fast. Ektor is very kind and understanding, Nia is amazing as well. The energy of the people, the place, the island is beautiful, it feels welcoming and I never felt like a foreigner.

I had an amazing time at the hostel and I would recommend it to everyone. The hostel is very nice and clean, it's chill and relaxing and guests are usually very sociable. I had also the opportunity to party a little bit. I think that's the best balance. There are very good vibes and I had time to explore the island too. The other volunteers were very kind and we had fun. The host Ekotras is very kind and calm and he makes you feel home. He is very helpful in any situation. The job is easy to learn, I liked it a lot ans shifts aren't tiring and Heraklion is a wonderful city!

My experience at Matala hostel couldn't be better! At first, it was a little bit confusing to understand some details about the work, but as soon as you get how the hostel works, it's easy and fair. Hours were always respected, manager was very flexible and easygoing as well. There are always other volunteers, which helps the experience to be even better. We also have discounts at the bar :) Totally recommend!

I had the best month in Matala Hostel, the volunteers made the entire experience worth it. Unfortunately for 3 weeks the hostel hosted 60 french teenagers and that was not the ideal people you'd want in a Hostel so hopefully they won't accept them for next year as they were not they nicest… Hours were respected, work is really fair and easy. Manager always took into account what days we wanted off, he was very chill (maybe way too chill sometimes) I'd 100% recommend this place to volunteer.

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I can honestly say it was an amazing one! Ektor is super friendly and flexible with the schedule. He also makes sure you know you can reach out to him at all times if you ever have a question or need anything! The other volunteers and I also became quick friends. The staff accommodation room was nice and the hostel was clean. The city had tons to do and many sights to see. I didn't really know what to expect going into it but now I would tell all my friends to try Worldpackers and to visit this hostel if they are ever in the area.

The experience at Matala Hostel has been one of the best! The work is simple, they are open to your ideas or if you need something for yourself or for the hostel. The surroundings of Crete are a great place to do on your days off, and the manager was always very flexible with our needs. I would definitely return!

I had a good time in Matala, it's a very relaxing and chill atmosphere in the hostel aswell as in the village. The place is a bit remote but there is a beach, some restaurants and bars in the village. The work is very easygoing. There are also most of the time five other volunteers so you can always do something with someone!

I really enjoyed my time in Matala! The other volunteers were amazing and it was easy to build good friendships with them. The work was easy and the host was very flexible. On my days off I was able to visit different parts of Crete. Matala itself is a very small town but the beach is very near & there is a pool to relax at. I would recommend this experience to everyone who wants so spend some time in a beach town, chill at the beach & still enjoy some nights out with your fellow travelers.

My stay at the Matala Hostel was amazing. If your looking for something relaxing and chill this is definitely for you. The beaches are so pretty and the pool is really nice. However you need to be prepared for the village life and not city life as Matala is so small it doesn't even have a proper grocery store. The hours are fair and the work is easy. I hope to come back here one day😚
