Program Details

When the calander is open we look for people to volunteer with us in exchange for food & board. We are an equine stunt teams, based in the Scottish borders, we have 5 full-time members (& 2 children) who live & work on the farm towards our passion(training animals). We look for enthusiastic volunteers to help us on our journey.

We look for volunteers during the Scottish Summer month only (May-September) Please contact us if you would like to volunteer during those months. Also please note that this is a very outdoorsey experience, where you will be working with animals. Please only apply if you have experience working outdoors & with horses. Thanks. (PS I cannot respond to everyone especially if you do not meet those requests, thank you for taking the time to read our profile)
We are an equestrian stunt team who have over the years exchanged volunteer work for food, board, travel opportunities (UK) and the chance to perform(groundcrew in costume) in live performance stunt shows. We also live as a community & aim to be as eco friendly as possible (constantly improving this). Volunteering with us is a great way to experience a different way of living in Scotland.

Activities & Shift

Daily animal care, feeding dogs, horses, chickens etc cleaning out stables.
Help with odd farm jobs like fixing fences, track repairs etc
Other jobs such as helping us train our animals, ground crew when we are jousting, trick riding & doing horse back archery.
Help us pack costumes & tack before heading off for weekend of performance. During a weekend away we will be camping & everyone takes on tasks for the duration.
Maintenance of communal areas, such as painting & repair work.
General cleaning of communal areas & washrooms. We are on a private water supply whoch is pumped up our steep hill, so we ask that people only shower once per week. (thats what we all do)

Rules

Have fun & be enthusiastic!
We like people to have a 1 week trial before committing to the rest of their stay. We like to make sure we are suited to each other to work happily together.
Full stay is to be arranged before hand, but after the first week we have a chat to ensure everyone is happy. I always suggest that you check out some other UK & Scottish hosts as well just incase our way of life dose not suit you.
Only apply if you have experience working(or volunteering) outdoors and with horses.
