Program Details
Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is a nonprofit educational institution in Zambia, dedicated to providing free education and meals to children aged 3 to 13. With 350 students and 29 committed local volunteers, the school relies entirely on donations to support its essential programs, ensuring that children receive quality education, nutritious meals, and a safe learning environment. Your contributions as a volunteer will surround the current needs of the school. Your goal can be to expand the schools media prescence to incentivize well wishers to collaborate. Meanwhile, the teachers can always have a partner helping with English, maths, science and other subjects such as physical education. Volunteers could also contribute to the feeding program and its challenges as well as the water Project: The school does not have its own water source. During the dry season, the communal pump runs out, making it impossible to provide drinking water, and forcing to close the school, therefore, it is essential to drill a borehole, the project is currently onhold due to insufficient funds.
Activities & Shift
We follow the school schedule, starting the work day at 7:30am until 16:00pm. During the day, we all have breakfast at 10:00 and lunch from 13:00-14:00. After having worked teaching the kids, helping with breakfast, marketing, cleaning... you have the rest of the day to enjoy with the kids, stare at a blazzing sunset, prepare dinner in your personal kitchen or play endlessly with the kids of the village.
