My friend and I completed this experience during the pandemic. They did made us feel welcomed at first and taught us a bit of quechua, but we felt discouraged by some issues. The working hours were not respected: somedays we were not involved at all and some weeks we did not have free days. We mostly completed house chores. The host was usually working and we were under his mother's charge and sometimes she was not kind to us. We were assured that is was a covidsafe place, but a lot of people came and went trough the house. We decided to leave earlier and the host refused to give us a refund.

Wilcahuain Is a perfecto place for self reflexión and to get away from the bustle of city life. Nelson Is a great help if you want to do the laguna hikes or anything in the surrounding área. The Cultures exposed áre beautiful and the things you can learn with Christian áre just mindblowing. He knows alot about the nature of the land, vegetación and properties surrounding Him. Highly reccommend! Learn Alot and do fun work In a wonderful environment.

My stay at the lodgewas amazing! Nelson and his family really make you feel at home by sharing everything, from food to stories. You really get to know a little bit more about Peruvian and Inka culture with them. Unfortunately, I didn't stay long enough to learn Quechua or to do social media work, but everything I've learned while with them was incredible. Nelson is an amazing guy, always willing to help and flexibilize the work hours so you get to know the surroundings. It's a really worthy experience. Brother, when in Brazil, don't hesitate do let me know. Un abrazo!

YOU HAVE TO PAY 5 DOLLARS PER DAY. KNOW THAT BEFORE YOU GO. IT'S NOT WRITTEN. The place seemed great but as i soon as i stepped there they wanted to charge me 5 dollars per night, even though nothing was written in the description. I've tried to talk to them and explain the situation but they've just said everybody who goes there know about the tax. I've also tried to contact WorldPackers but they didn't do anything as well. At the end, I had to find somewhere else to volunteer in the city because i didn't have the money to pay them.

I had a really great time with Nelson and his entire beautiful family!! They're very walm and welcoming and really eager to share they're culture with anybody who wants to learn. This is a great way to get a real look into Peruvian. Hours are easy, you work in the morning and have the afternoon off. Tasks change depending on what they need doing, construction, planting, general labour. Mountains are incredibly beautiful! Amenities are basic, there's no hot water or internet, and it's quite cold where they have dinner, outside. Please keep that in mind. Food is simple but good.

The lodgeis a perfect place if you are looking for a real peruvian experience. The owner, Nelson, is a really nice guy that wants you to feel welcome and help you get to know the surroundings. He even let you have flexible hours so that you can do trekkings. the lodgeis close to the entrance of some trekkings (Laguna Ahuac) and is an unique experience in Huaraz. But have in mind that you wont have some comforts that you would when staying at the city center. There is no hot water, no wifi, and the food is very simple. They do San Pedro ceremonies, but it costs 175 soles each. Recommended!

Los 10 días que pasamos con Nelson y su familia fueron realmente una experiencia increíble. Aprendimos mucho sobre la cultura, las costumbres y la forma de vivir en las montañas de Huaraz. Por supuesto, hay que disfrutar de la vida simple y de la naturaleza. Nelson, su hermano Christian y toda su familia nos recibieron muy bien, fueron muy amables y siempre atentos con nosotros. Fue una experiencia muy bonita que recomiendo a todos los amantes de la naturaleza que quieran descubrir la cultura del país y la de Huaraz. ¡Gracias, Nelson, y hasta la próxima!

Disfruté mucho de mi estancia con Nelson y su familia. Nos acogieron muy bien. Son gente muy agradable. En cuanto al trabajo, Nelson es muy flexible con sus horarios, lo que nos permitió hacer muchas excursiones durante nuestra estancia. El entorno es rústico, no hay que fijarse mucho en la limpieza, pero teníamos nuestra propia habitación, así que estaba bien. La comida era sencilla (arroz, maíz y patatas) pero siempre muy buena y saciante. Hablamos mucho con Neslon y su familia. Para mí fue una gran experiencia que me permitió conocer mejor su cultura y sus tradiciones. ¡Gracias Nelson!

Nuestra experiencia de voluntariado en la comunidadfue maravillosa. La familia Yauri nos recibió con calidez y nos hizo sentir como parte de su hogar. Aprendimos sobre sus costumbres y tradiciones mientras colaborábamos en ellas. Fue una estancia enriquecedora, llena de respeto y aprendizaje. Recomendamos totalmente esta experiencia a quienes busquen una inmersión auténtica y significativa. Ha sido una experiencia que jamás olvidaremos, momentos compartidos y una convivencia que superó todas nuestras expectativas. Nelson es un anfitrión de 11/10 ;)
