I had a lovely time here in Arusha! James and his family were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. The volunteer area is beautiful and taken care of really well. It was so fun to help out at the school and feel like a part of the community!

I volunteered as a teacher in a rural school—rewarding, but initially the teachers weren't very engaged. Once I showed initiative, they fully involved me and even let me lead classes. Be clear on your strengths early so they can place you well. The housing is simple but good, and the host family speaks great English. Food is served three times a day and dietary needs are respected. As a woman, bring someone when going to the market—it can be overwhelming. Come with an open mind and curiosity!

An experience that I highly recommend James and his family were fantastic, they really make you feel at home, and in addition to the volunteering experience all the outings and weekend excursions that James organized for us were fantastic, I hope to return one day.

James and his family made this an unbelievable experience. Especially James helps with everything he can to make this a unique time for everyone. He helps with organizing the appropriate work and also with a lot of things for your free time. I really recommend this place as you can so much and further get to see a lot of things, especially on the weekends.☺️

James is a great host, and is truly trying to make an impact with the education of underprivileged children. We felt very welcomed by him and also the family (Mama Kissiri, Elizabeth and of course Faraja). We had a great time during our stay and felt like making an impact there for the library (construction). James was very helpful and helped organizing trips for the weekend and was helpful if there's anything we needed.

This was an amazing experience- James and the Kissiri house are so welcoming and helpful. James will organize the tours for you and is so kind. The kids at the school and library are the sweetest. Would recommend coming here :)

I want to express my gratitude to the Kissiris for hosting me and welcoming as part of their family, giving me the chance to experience authentic tanzanian life. I had alot of fun with the kids in the library, though I do feel my experience would have been better had I come at a different time, as there were many holidays so I couldn't spend as much time with them as I would have liked! Even so, it was still a life changing experience A special mention to James for being supportive throughout and to Mama Kissiri and Betty for their delicious food and warm hospitality I truly felt at home 🤍

Good first experience for volunteering. The kids are lovely and they like and respect volunteers. The school and library are not super organized, and volunteers could have a bigger impact if guided a bit more. The house is clean and comfortable, volunteers sleep in rooms with bunk beds and a bathroom with electricity (most of the times) and hot water. James, and the siblings Elizabeth and Sam are all very kind and welcoming. Keep in mind that they have their life so you will be on your own most of the time. Tips: - I went in July and it was quite cold at night - There is no real free tour

James is a very welcoming man, and an amazing host! He will show you how to work on the variety of options you have to volunteer for. He is also very good at helping volunteers find activities, and ensuring they can reach their destinations. I will always remember his help and knowledge. ❤️🇹🇿
