The experience

Worth a Haven Foundation in Kasese, Western Uganda was set up in 2013 by Masika. She now supports 400 vulnerable children and women through her school, orphanage and community projects. We are seeking support with communications and marketing to strengthen our visibility, atract donors and partners, and share the real impact of our work. Help is needed with storytelling, social media, fundraising campaigns and digital presence.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Photography: Take, edit and provide amazing photos.

Video Making: Create, edit and publish digital videos.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 35 Per week

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities

Description: We love having volunteers but in the past we have found it difficult to sustain paying for all their ameneties so we now kindly ask you to contribute 35 dollars per week in exchange for accomodation, electricity, water and three wholesome meals a day and a really rich experience where you will leave with a lot of experience and knowledge.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details

Worth a Haven Foundation is a community-led organisation based in the western region of Uganda, in Kasese, supporting vulnerable children and families through education, care and development programmes. Our work centres around a nursery and primary school, an orphanage, farming projects and community health initiatives.

We currently support over 400 vulnerable children, including orphans and displaces children from the Congo. Our mission is to provide a safe environment where children can access education, nutrition, healthcare and stability, while also strengthening families and livelihoods across the wider community.

Kasese is located near some of Uganda's most beautiful natural landmarks, including Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest and the Rwenzori Mountains, offering volunteers the opportunity to experience both rural community life and world-class landscapes.


Activities & Shift

Weekly Schedule (Monday – Friday 9-4)

Weekends are free for rest, travel and exploring the region, including safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park or hiking in the Rwenzori Mountains.

Rules

Life and work in rural Uganda moves at a very different pace to Western countries.

Flexibility, patience and cultural respect are essential.

Things may take longer than expected. Schedules can change.

Resources are limited and conditions are basic.

You are expected to be adaptable, respectful and open-minded.

Local customs, leadership structures and communication styles should always be respected.

Volunteers are guests in the community - humility and cultural sensitivity are essential.
