Program Details
Our volunteering program is simple, hands-on, and focused on giving the dogs a better life. Each morning, volunteers help with walking the dogs, feeding them, refreshing their water, and giving them some love and attention.
After the dogs are taken care of, volunteers support the shelter with practical tasks such as building or repairing fences, gardening, clearing paths, basic maintenance, helping with water pumps, and general improvement projects around the property.
The tasks vary day-to-day depending on what the shelter needs most.
It’s a physical, rewarding, and meaningful way to directly support the dogs and help Lara continue building a safe and happy space for them.
Activities & Shift
Shifts are flexible, and volunteers can join the activities that best match their energy and abilities. Lara guides everyone through the tasks and makes sure the work is safe, meaningful, and impactful for the dogs.

Rules
• Attendance: Volunteers are expected to show up on the days they commit to so the dogs receive consistent care and support.
• Positive Attitude: Come with an open mind, a willingness to help, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
• Respect for the Work: Every task—big or small—is important for the dogs’ safety and well-being.
• Responsibility: Follow instructions, handle tools safely, and take your tasks seriously.
• Communication: Let Lara know if you need help, have questions, or can’t join a shift you planned to attend.
• Kindness to Dogs: Always be gentle, patient, and respectful with the pups; many come from difficult backgrounds and need extra care.
• Team Spirit: Treat fellow volunteers with respect and support each other during projects.
These guidelines help keep the shelter safe, organized, and a positive place for both the dogs and the humans who care for them.
