Yellow Sun Hostel

Kampot is steeped in colonial history, which makes it both beautiful and interesting. Local people are a mixture of Cambodian and ex pats, both of which you can find frequenting the many bars and coffee shops in the local town. At the hostel we employ both western and local staff; currently 9 Khmer staff who hold positions in all aspects of the business, from cooking and housekeeping, to maintenance and bar tending. We are only too happy to help with improving your local language skills.

We are looking for volunteers who can help out with the general running of a backpackers hostel. Reception Helping out restaurant , liaising with guests and any Ad Hoc duties that occur. We are looking for friendly, sociable people with a good level of English. No previous experience is necessary. You will work 6 hour shifts, 6 days a week, working with the local staff and other volunteers. You will either be working morning shift (8am-2pm): serving breakfast orders, checking people in, renting kayaks and just being a smiley face to make guests feel welcome! The middle shift (12pm-6pm): This shift consists of chatting with customers, giving advice on activities and serving drinks and food. Or evening shifts (5pm-11pm): the reception turns in to a busy bar at night! You will help with food orders and serve drinks, chatting to all the interesting people that pass through our doors.

This was my first time volunteering and i would recommend it to anyone !! Everyone at this hostel is super welcoming and so so kind. Special mention to Jamie and Tak who both worked here with me, they made my stay exceptional. Work hours are easy and even though it’s a little far from town, it’s very easy to get to with a bike or tuktuk

The team and the other volunteers were nice and friendly. Nice place to volunteer and to learn about bartending and client service.

I've just left Yellow Sun and absolutely loved my 2 weeks there. As it's rainy season there are no evening events and fewer travellers, so it's a great place to just chill in your free time. Bicycles and kayaks are free to use for volunteers. The team are great and will help you with whatever you need. I hope to go back sometime!

Even if at first you can feel a little overwhelmed, after few days it will pass and you will enjoy so much the time you have there ! The place is absolutely amazing and town is not really far if you want to explore more on your free hours :)
Working hours are respected and they are very flexible if you have any issues with it !
I really recommend this place , you arrive as a simple volunteer and you leave as a family member, everyone is so nice and feel free to ask any questions they will answer and help you !
