Waves Campground

At Waves we live a unique lifestyle, we prioritize enjoyment in everything we do and are proud to be highly customer focused. Our stunning beach location offers incredible nature experiences and a once in a lifetime chance to improve or begin your SURFING journey. With 4 point-breaks within 10Km and a beautiful headland right in front that offers North Easterly to South Easterly facing beach breaks, there are waves for all abilities.

Life here gives you the chance to lead or take part in many activities such as: sunrise surfs with anytime use of our surf equipment, beach games, diving, snorkeling, fishing, local walks, yoga, heading to the pub for live music, nightly socials around a fire and much more. We pride ourselves on being very eco-friendly and environmentally aware. We are big recyclers and work hard to keep our property clean and looking good.

- Being quite remote we need to have a 'one menu fits all' attitude about our food. We all take turns cooking dinner every night, so cooking is important and a great family moment every day! We do 1 food shop a week and since we all eat together, we cannot cater to many different diets/wishes. Catering for vegetarians is totally fine, but only if you are not too fussy (your food can be cooked near meat etc). However, we can NOT cater to vegan/dairy/gluten free diets or heavy allergies. We're sorry but it has proven to be too difficult. -

My name is Annemieke (Anna) and I run the campground together with my partner Kit and the owner, Richard. Together we aim to make a Waves a welcoming home for as many people as we can. Since 2015 we have hosted nearly 1000 volunteers, and we simply love it. Having quite a bit of travelling experience between us we understand and connect with the traveler's lifestyle well. Creating our own community and hosting people from all over the world is pretty much the dream if you ask us. PS: Besides running the business Kit & I also have 2 little girls (Ayla & Elowyn), so sometimes you may need to wait a few days before I can get back to you. Don't worry, I will answer as soon as I get a chance!

Exactly as advertised!
I had the best time at Waves and feel grateful that I got to be apart of this amazing community. Learning to surf, discovering the bush and bonding with locals and international travellers alike were certainly the highlights of my stay.
I also felt like my work as a volunteer was valued, and got to learn many new skills in a very encouraging environment.

I had the most amazing time at Waves! The campground is very beautiful and the home of a great diversity of birds and animals I had never seen before. I got to meet there a lot of travelers but also a lot of locals, and I really felt like I was part of a community for the two months I was there. As for the tasks, they were pretty diverse and the groundkeeper taught me a lot of new skills, with a lot of patience and encouragements, which I am very grateful for. Overall it was an unforgetable experience, and I can't recommend it enough!

Came here with no expectations, but coming out of it I ended up meeting my best mate and so many loving and unique people that added variety of color to my life . I Surfed a ton, made new friends, went on bush walk and adventures and I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything else. Also the work is pretty fun, bunch of side quest usually. Richie is really chill too, so don’t worry about a bad boss. I’m gonna miss all the homies but I’ll see them soon. Keep frothing🤙🏽

I had the most amazing experience at waves. I truly recommend it to everyone. The work was for 4 hours a day and 1 day off a week but the work was fun and didn't feel like work at all because you were learning so much. The food was great, the caravans were comfy and overall a great experience. Thanks waves!!!!
