The first night I arrived my host showed up drunk. He yelled at me to follow him to a room alone, to make dinner. I was uncomfortable and left. Once I left the room, he txted and called me on WA, saying I need to make him dinner. I had to pay a higher fee than agreed upon. There was one other volunteer, we were led to believe there would be multiple. I wanted to leave early as I was not comfortable, he was upset and told me I owe him more money, though I paid a higher amount and for the days I wouldn’t be there. They agreed to provide all meals, on my last day they did not provide lunch.

Actually, it was a very negative experience with Ms. Emely due to her misconduct and failure to fulfill the role and commitment of the job. During the days she was on the project, all services were provided to her in accordance with the commitment. However, she chose to engage in other activities outside of my project with the intention of making me look bad and commenting with negative contexts, using that as an excuse for the lack of coordination that she had as a plan. I would not recommend her to other hosts because she does not fulfill the commitment

Simplemente me queda decir, !muchas gracias hermano Maxwell!

This was such a beautiful experience, mostly because of our host Cris and his good energy! The tasks were diverse, mostly adapted to everyone’s skills or what you are interested in. Cris and his family are one of the last Inca family living in the mountains, it was a real immersion in a very different world, perfect to learn about the local culture which they were so happy to share.
The food was simple, potatoes, rice, soups, oats, bread … it was nice to try a lot of traditional meals. It can get really cold in the mountains so don’t forget warm clothes. 🫶⛰️🇵🇪
