Unique house in Istria near Učka

If you want contact with local residents, volunteering with us is the ideal opportunity for you, you can also learn a lot about a self-sustaining lifestyle, various construction techniques.

I am an eco builder, raw vegan and I have been living off grid for almost twenty years and I have been traveling to various places around the world for the same number of years. I am interested in the way of life outside the system and I have dedicated my life to the research of the tribal way of communication, rituals, ceremonies, dances. I currently run a dance retreat center in Rovinj, where I try to use all my experiences and knowledge. Here I teach people what it's like when you don't have all the comforts of city life and you're connected to nature. In the winter we heat with wood so it's a new skill you can learn if you come here like many others.

I had a great time in Alen s house I've learn how to build the fondations of a house with concret, he is very polyvalent and knows a lot about construction and a lot of différents topics in general ! The work to do depends on the project he is doing at the moment. I ve met locals and Alen show me and recommend me nice places and was open to share and talk and bring you in amazing experiences (:

Alen is a chill, kind and respectful guy. We helped him out with some gardening and cleaning tasks. We had an incredible week with Alen and he left an impression on us. In that short time Alen showed us a different way of living that we aspire to incorporate into our own lives.

Thanks for everything 😊

Evangeline is an interesting young girl, her roots are partly Maori which is visible in her attitude, she expresses herself clearly and knows what she wants, a lawyer by profession. She is one of three girls from New Zealand who came together and helped me with my daily projects. They quickly got used to the fact that I don't have a schedule but spontaneously plan my duties for that day every morning. Eva did very well and I thank her.

Great experience! Alen really taught me how to live the chill life with no schedule and good vibes. He was super friendly and a great energy to be around. The work was just 2 hours a day mostly helping with gardening and cleaning and kindly gave us a day off when we were sick. He also took the time to teach me how to use a chainsaw which I was super eager to learn. If you like a tight schedule this isn’t for you. We loved our stay with Alen

Before this experience, I was excited to enjoy Pula as informed and provide a positive clean environment at the location. Once I arrived, it was clear I was not going to be near the sea in Pula. There was no explanation of the different address or what my tasks were going to be or how the worldpackers experience was going to work. I was introduced to many of the hosts friends and family and even stayed at a completely different house. I attempted to take initiative and communicate, but those efforts were barely reciprocated. I tried to understand my position, but it was not clear at all.
