Tujuan Lombok - Rumah Wahid

We are a travel company dedicated to giving back to the local people of Lombok.

Our main priority is improving the lives of the local people and improving the conditions of the villages and beaches here in Lombok.

We are also experienced tour guides in Lombok so you get the best of both worlds coming to volunteer with us as we can offer expert advice and discounted tours to help you make the most of your time here in Lombok.

The local community really love meeting the volunteers that come to stay and they make you feel like family which is one of the most special parts of the program. You will experience local culture and see what the lives of the local people are like here and you will never go hungry because they love to cook for you!

In 2023 I started working with a close friend on a volunteer programme in central Lombok, which is an organisation that offers volunteers from around the world the chance to work in the local villages teaching English to the local children. During my time in the organisation, I saw the positive impact that was being made within these communities, especially with the children. It was then I realised that this was my passion. I grew up in a small village close to the beach in West Lombok so I decided I would like to give back to my own community by starting my own project with some of my close friends who want to help improve the local area! Our village is close by Sengiggi, which is a popular tourist destination. The tourism industry brings lots of job opportunities for our local people which is why I feel it’s important to teach our children English to help create a better future for them and help increase their chances of getting employment. They are all so eager to learn and love meeting new people! Another passion of mine is the environment, specifically tackling the litter problem that we have here in Lombok, especially on our beaches. Part of our aim is to educate the locals about recycling and to tackle the problem hands on by carrying out regular clean ups on the beach and in the local areas. We would also like to provide recycling trash cans for the locals to use. That’s where you come in. If you have similar passions to us and would like to make an impact here in Lombok we invite you to join our project! No formal qualifications are required. You will work for 1-2 hours in the afternoon and 1-2 hours in the evening. Any other time is your own, although we have lots of optional activities that you may join!In 2023 I started working with a close friend on a volunteer programme in central Lombok, which is an organisation that offers volunteers from around the world the chance to work in the local villages teaching English to the local children. I spent three weeks in the village and it was undoubtedly an experience I will always cherish.
All the people I met were wonderful to me, always available, always trying to make me feel good in any circumstance.
It is certainly an experience that allows you to live 100 % their authentic daily life.
It's a wonderful project, beneficial for the children, and it would be wonderful if it could continue to grow.
I'm grateful to the entire group I spent these three weeks with. I've grown very fond of them and I hope to be able to visit them again one day.
(PS: the food is delicious!)

I stayed for two weeks in the project. It is a great place to see the local Lombok and to be immerse in the culture. The English classes are really fun for the kids and the teachers aswell :) The kids are a bit shy when someone new comes but they’re the sweetest and so enthusiastic to learn, specially when (us) the teachers do like games and so. Sani is really committed with the project and is always there in case you need anything. He gave us some really useful Indonesian classes. Pia, Dayat and his family are warm and cook delicious meals.

I had a beautiful experience, immersed in local village culture, and surrounded by like minded volunteers. The team has been given a new school building, which we cleaned and decorated. It is a big space that is great for teaching the kids in.
The location is perfect, within walking distance of the beach and only a short drive to Sengiggi where we surfed everyday. We spent most evenings watching the sunset on the beach and then eating a range of AMAZING local food.
On our days off, we visited the secret gilli island (at an additional cost) where we were the only group camping. Surreal.

My time at Tajuan Lombok was so special !!
We taught the children English, did beach cleanups, made eco bricks and helped improve the volunteer accommodation through various DIY projects. The highlight of this experience was definitely the people, Sani, the team and the children are all incredible and welcome you as part of the family. They even took a whole group of us to the secret Gilis where we sang around the fire and snorkeled with bioluminescence. The food is also amazing !! I felt so comfortable, had so much fun and laughed a lot. Highly recommend this volunteer experience :)

Sani and Taylor are a very beautiful couple. They are doing their best to help the village learn English, and they even care about the neighboring village, making sure they also receive the education they need. They are also working hard to clean the village of plastic and have created trash bags for everyone to use.
Life with them was so quiet . Sani is an active person, so if you want to explore all of Lombok, he is a great tour guide. I really appreciate what he is doing for his people.
I also enjoyed the company of Gouga and Refal they are so funny to do activities with
