Tolvsbo Inn

We are a Dutch family (Reinder ('88) & Ilse ('89), with two sons ('15-'17) and living in Sweden since october '25. We live here at a beautyfull spot in the middle of nature, with a view over the lake.
The place here is an old stable with a restaurant/café inside, a small campsite in progress in the back and in the beginning of '26 start of building appartments inside.

We try to make this place a good place to be for everyone, a place with a heart.

We are a young family, starting our dream to come true. Living a life on a beautyfull spot in the middle of nature, creating a place we can share together with travellers, neighbours, family and friends. A place where people feel at home. To stay for a night or longer or just to have a nice cup of coffee or even celebrating their birthday. The former owners worked together with volunteers for many, many years. Hundreds of young people have been here! Almost everyone had a wonderful time here, with new experiences. Many friendships were born. Everyone has skills and experiences and we preferably want everyone to do what he/she likes most. We can learn of eachother and make use of eachothers experience. We try to give you as much learning experiences as possible, a lot of fun and we want to show you how to work with love for the food, how to work with a heart for the guests, the buildings and the garden. Welcome with us! Familie Visscher Tolvsbo Inn ------- More detailed info for those who are interested: We have some work in the kitchen and the café. Helping preparing food, doing the dishes, helping guests in the café and some cleaning work. You can help in the garden or with the houses and building- renovating-projects we have to do. We have some animals to take care for, 2 dogs, cats and a few rabbits en guinea piggs. We hope you will enjoy the nature around us, taking a bicycle, going for a walk, swimming in the lake or paddling in a canoe. But notice that citylife is far away! You will have a room or a caravan on your own and you share the bathroom with other helpers. We have our evening dinner together, the other meals you can take when it fits you best. We have free WIFI.

We had an amazing time at Tolvsbo. Every single day was so much fun, we were always learning new things. We had very varied tasks including dog-walking, gardenwork, cooking, baking, painting, cleaning, packing and many many more. This made sure that no two days felt the same and every single day kept us learning. They were the kindest, most welcoming, most generous people who did everything they can to make us feel at home and succeeded greatly at it. We also met volunteers from different countries and after our hours we would enjoy the great nature in Tolvsbo together. I'd love to go again!

We had an amazing experience at Tolvsbo. We did lots of various tasks, including walking the dogs, cooking, baking, garden work, cleaning, painting, packing and much more. No two days were the same, which kept things fresh and new for the day and made sure we were always learning something new. They are the kindest, most welcoming, and generous people, and they truly made us feel at home at Tolvsbo. They really made us feel like members of a community. We are forever thankful and will never forget our time there.

What an amazing experience! They are extremely welcoming and kind people. Working there had a lot of variation from picking berries, helping in the kitching, walking with the dogs, till working on fences. I met with other volunteers all over the world. Most of the time, we were together doing tasks, but also in our spare time, we would hang out at the nearby lake or play board games. Combining the diverese taks and doing other fun things in the spare time, makes this experience actual amazing. Thank you so much for everything!

An unexpected experience after reading comments as I was one of the first volunteers after the restaurant closed. Working hours and days off weren't set from the start and tasks became repetitive, packing and unpacking as the hosts were moving, and walking the dogs, even on days off, which made it difficult to fully rest. There was confusion with our leaving date, which forced us to leave early, at greater expense. We did enjoy lovely dinners cooked by Roswitha, who also introduced us to some Swedish traditions. I am grateful for the experience, and thankful for what I learnt.
