The Golden Stork
We are a small hostel family with the perfect location in the city center of The Hague at a typical Dutch canal. We also have unlimited free coffee, and a cozy dorm to sleep in.
Besides all that we have an awesome staff (who will be your new best friends) and they also organize all kinds of activities in or around the hostel. Also really good for a nice conversation (with an optional beer)!
We are two brothers who started our first hostel here in The Hague. We are very involved with the day to day business. We like to help our volunteers out discovering the city and share our knowledge and skills about our coffee culture.

Work (cleaning) is easy to learn and not very hard; managers accommodate your shift requests and are really nice. Hanging out with other volunteers was one of the few good things of the experience. Host provides the benefits claimed on the app but the kitchen, shared with guests, is really dirty and unequipped. Very often, I didn’t even have forks and spoons to eat, while I could use pens even though they were either broken or scratched. Place looks more like a hotel, so don't expect the classic hostel life. Finally, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, 30 mins away from the centre by tram.

I had a great time at the Golden Stork. The hostel and the rooms were nice, the tasks were managable and even fun. The Hostel is located a bit outside of Den Haag, so you will have to take a short drive into the city center, but the station is not far from the hostel. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice hostel that allows you to explore Den Haag and the rest of the Netherlands. Its not really social in terms of meeting the guests but you will have a lot of other volunteers/staff around you to hang out with!

My experience at The Golden Stork hotel was amazing! The breakfast is really, really good, the managers are very flexible and explain the tasks very well. The housekeeping and bar staff are very kind and always willing to help with anything you need. Communication with Dennis, who is in charge of the place, was excellent. I would definitely come back here 🙌

Mi estancia en Golden Stork ha sido maravillosa. Es importante destacar que no estábamos cerca del centro de la ciudad, es por ello que muchas veces pasas más tiempo en el hostal que fuera.
Dennis y Johnny , con los que he trabajado la mayor parte del tiempo, son dos personas encantadoras. He conocido gente espectacular en el hostal, además, me gustaría descartar que la experiencia ha sido enriquecedora sobre todo por el equipo con el que he coincidido. No me cabe duda que será irrepetible… hemos recorrido el mundo a través de nuestras anécdotas.

Photos on the page are of the wrong place, very misleading. area is industrial Restaurant’s nice, rooms are alright, but kitchen’s always dirty and very dark. no dedicated hangout space for volunteers. Felt like hotel management just used us for work, but my housekeeping managers were very nice. What made my experience good were the people, the place is so odd but you bond with the ppl, made many friends. Would’ve left 3 stars but were many times where male volunteers had inappropriate behavior with female volunteers, management were told many times and did nothing, I find this unacceptable.

Hey Tristan, interesting to read that “nothing was done”, since every time behaviour issues were reported to us we acted on it. Would have been nice if you had spoken to us directly instead of saving it for the internet.
About “being used”: Worldpackers is an exchange. You got free accommodation and we got your help. That is exactly how it works.
