The Chocolate Garden

We craft everything from scratch — chocolate, ice cream, sorbet, butter, gluten-free baking, and more. 🍫🍦
This is a rare, hands-on chance to learn directly from an expert chocolatier and kitchen scientist, who is also a jeweler, photographer, artist, and inventor. 🔬📷
You won’t just watch; you’ll practice real skills in small batches, understand the “why” behind each process, and help shape a space that teaches people the story of cacao and flavor.

I’ve lived in Guatemala for 45 years, working alongside Indigenous communities to promote social responsibility, healthcare, and education. Our team is local, experienced, and community-focused, with decades of welcoming and guiding volunteers. 🤝 You can expect respect, clear communication, and patient mentorship—plus a collaborative environment where curiosity is encouraged and your ideas are valued. 💛

Volunteering at the chocolate garden was fun and always interesting. We learnt how to make chocolate from bean to bar and everything in between. Tasks included organising things, some minor renovations and improvements in preparation for the new store opening soon. We also got to make granola, ice cream, yoghurt, tofu and soy milk from scratch

Bryce was really a great volunteer for our project. We were lucky that his partner Heleen showed up a little later and joined us. Very patient and attentive, they helped in all sorts of ways. Always ready to give full attention and participate all endeavors as well as willing to help extra time when tasks needed finishing in extra hours. Bryce is a great cook, he made several delicious meals that were quite surprising. They really gave their all and we fully recommend anyone host them.
