Studio Orang Kampung @ Lurah Bilut

My name is Zaki, and I've lived in Malaysia my whole life.
Village life to discover 1.5 hour from KL with just one bus away.
We are looking for helpers for help around the house I lived in with my wife Yati, daughter Sophia..who just turned 7 and our son, Alfian who is 5.
Sophia is talkative, active and happy go lucky kind of soul.
While Ian is with autism and speech delayed but really observant.
Cunning too in somewhat way.

Looking for people who are interested in immersing themselves in our local Malaysian culture.
But of course when you stay with me..it would be from my perspectives.
So the work are flexible, depending on situations, weather and other elements.
Hosting people through though, I just want to make new friend.
Longest person so far stay with me was 80 days and few peoples came back for more than 4 times.
To create environment for my children to grow and learn, and meet people who are probably able or willing to welcome them when they old enough to travel abroad hopefully.
So far, able to tell myself it is accordingly.

We are looking for helpers who can stay at least one week @ 7 days. First 3 day would be for people to adjust with the environment. Someone who can work in 3D sector. Dirty - Difficult - Dangerous. Right now our priority is to set up the edible garden and maintaining our 7.4 acres of palm oil farm. Where we grow other type of plant as well like bilimbi, avocado, calamansi and various type of fruit tree. Cacao also will be in the list. If you are looking for luxury, please look elsewhere. If you are interested and willing to stay with me, please bear in mind that while you and your bags are still in my house, you are my responsibility. Your safety, health and well being are important to us. I don't want you to get hurt, sick or anything with the activities. So don't push yourself.

I had a great time at Lurah Bilut. Zaki was a chatty and respectful host. We had many meaningful conversations with other volunteers, also with Zaki. In addition, I was invited to participate in various activities in the village, from birthday parties for the locals to soccer matches. It made me feel like this place was my second home. Last but not least, I have to say that the best rendang and sambal were probably eaten at Zaki's house haha.

I stayed with them for about 9 days and I got to experience being a part of their family and community.
I’m so grateful especially for the warmth of the people and all the delicious food. They were ready to welcome us and made me feel included.

The work was relaxed with no pressure as they say. I helped with the dishes, the farm, and other things that came up in their daily living. You also have lots of freedom.

I feel lucky to have been there. Thank you so much for hosting me and everything!

Staying with Zaki and Yati was a wonderful experience. If we had longer to spend in Malaysia, we would have stayed for a very long time. We were with them for only 8 days, but from the start and throughout we were treated as friends. Most of the time here is spent eating delicious food and chatting to new friends. They have created a special place full of love and warmth.

We stayed with Zaki, Yati and their family for a week and it was a positive and rewarding experience. We were welcomed as a part of the family and learned so much about the local culture and community. Zaki and Yati truly make you feel at home and are very kind and enthusiastic hosts. We spent most of our time cooking, eating and chatting - our favourite things! If you’re looking for a very immersive and authentic experience then this is the perfect stay for you. You’ll arrive as guests and leave as family!
