Spiritual nature farm Sri Lanka

We are a community project who work island wide Srilanka. Since 2014 with the motto “Train the new generation for a sustainable future” Group volunteers are most welcome to contribute their valuable time, money, skills and knowledge along with their values to the society, by exchanging culture (food, daily life, festivals, philosophies, yoga, meditation and farming etc.). Our motive is to make the link and collaboration between people who need real support and those who willing to make it in a meaningful manner as group volunteers.
As a community project , we work with rural schools, farmers, different communities and local families to support and enhance while giving them opportunities to expose to the world through international group work camps.

As a family, those who join us to work for the same purpose and goal will be treated as a part and parcel of SN Farm global family. We often think that people who come here have similar thoughts, life opinions and sprits like every one of us in the family. If the person chooses to be a volunteer for more than one week, he/she/they can realize what our project means to be.

This was a very beautiful experience. We were hosted by Niro on a very rainy week which made it hard to do some physical work. Besides that, we exchanged a lot about everything: the purpose of the project, politics, agriculture, culture, cooking… We met many local families by visiting them, that was also a very immersive experience. I believe Niro is a person with a very good heart and purposes, which him the best luck to him, his family, all their dreams and the project ☺️

It was a very good experience! We loved to stay with Niro, and learned a lot with him on our daily conversations. His purpose is very noble and important, and I am sure he will succeed on his ambitions of spreading natural farming across the country. The food he cooked was amazing! We couldn't do much work due to a big storm, as it was raining all days, but we could meet the comunity and help in some minor tasks.

I am very happy with our stay at SNF with Niro and his kind family. We stayed for two weeks and helped mostly with physical work in the garden. There is also possibility to contribute to other projects in the village. We also got opportunity to attend a buddist ceremony, visit in the city with the family and a show at the childrens school. They bring you along, want to have discussions about life, cultures, environment etc and make you feel like one in the family. You must adapt to flexible schedule and easy going lifestyle, and you will have a great time!

We felt so welcomed by Niro and Umanga. We got to help out in their garden and got to know the culture, the locals in the village and about gardening. We got delicious food and unlimited amount of tea. We worked a couple of hours during the day with breaks for tea and lunch. In the afternoons we relaxed in our room or sat and talked with the family in the kitchen. Some days we went on day trips with the family, went to the river to swim and some days we did nothing. Niro and Umanga are very kind and want you to have your best experience while they also get to know you.

Niro and Umonga welcome you like family and you’re quickly immersed in their lives which is a blessing. The preschool kids are adorable and so are Niro and Umongas children. You have to be flexible as days change and there won’t always be things to do.
