Speyside

If you’re looking for more than just a place to volunteer - if you want a chance to slow down, breathe, and truly soak in the beauty of rural Scotland - this is the place for you. Set in a peaceful farmhouse retreat, surrounded by rolling farmland and rich wildlife, this is an opportunity to step away from the noise and clutter of life and reconnect with nature.

Here, you’ll find a supportive, nourishing environment where your help is valued, but where you also have space for personal reflection. Whether you want to clear your mind with long walks spotting deer or red squirrels, enjoy the simple rhythm of daily tasks, or take a step back and gain perspective, this is a space that allows you to do so.

Volunteering here means contributing to something meaningful while also giving yourself the gift of peace, calm, and a change of pace. If you need to work remotely, your room has a desk - but if you’re looking to truly unplug, you’ll find no better setting.

Come for the beauty, stay for the warmth, and leave feeling refreshed.

I share my home with my eight-year-old Akita, and together we live a simple, reflective life, balancing the rhythm of daily tasks with moments of stillness and growth. I practice ways in natural healing and well-being, aligning systems so we can move forward in a more congregate way, while creating a space that supports both personal and collective harmony. Volunteers are welcomed as part of the home, treated with trust and respect, and given the space to contribute in a way that feels aligned. While there are tasks to be done, I like to find roles that suit individual strengths and interests, making the experience collaborative. Shared meals are part of our time together, with space to cook and connect if that feels right. There’s also the opportunity to join in breath and meditation, occasional yoga, or ceremony, depending on the flow of things. Evenings may bring deep conversation or simply quiet reflection. Above all, this is a place of mutual respect, support, and the chance to reconnect with a simpler, more nourishing way of living.

The overall experience was good. It introduces you to the world of hosting, DIY projects, like fixing fences, even building a rock wall. There’s also a gardening section where you can plant things and work on the raised vegetable beds, remove weeds, etc. Some areas for improvement include being clearer about work and rest times for both parties.
Unfortunately, our stay was suddenly cut short due to personal matters on the host’s side. We sincerely hope their situation has improved. We feel that, while the experience could have been better with more fluid communication, we still learnt a lot.

Ah Juan, with tasks written up and talked through, I thought things were clear - but there’s always room to improve. I acknowledge your effort on the DIY & painting tasks, though clearly wasn’t the right fit.
I hope you felt the benefit of 4 full days & 2 afternoons off, the many outings, and under 50 work hours across the 2 weeks.
As Flor shared, when we’re carrying heavier things, it’s hard to see what’s around. I hope you’re meeting those truths, and with care. Wishing you all the best.

This was my first volunteering experience and I’m so glad it was with Ruth :) The week I spent at her place was wonderful, the tasks very clear and we had many different things to do in the garden, the cottages, the house. I’m also so glad that we got to explore this part of Scotland as well!! (Also the dog is absolutely lovely)
If you love nature and are ready to open up, learn, feel, I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

This was, without a doubt, an impeccable project that I was fortunate to be apart of. Ruth welcomed me into her home and laid what she had planned - the work kept you busy and it was varied which I really enjoyed. I'm very grateful for this experience, I will always look back on this with fond memories.

To any worldpackers thinking of applying, I cannot recommend this project enough!
