Small farm on the top of Europe

We’re Bjørnar and Svanhild, passionate sheep farmers living in the wild beauty of Finnmark, Northern Norway. Life here follows the rhythm of nature — from long summer days under the midnight sun ☀️ to cozy winter moments during the polar night 🌌. Work is varied and depends on the weather: sheep care, organic gardening 🥔🥕, and farm tasks as needed.

This is more than just a job — it’s a lifestyle rooted in simplicity, health, faith, and connection 🙏. We welcome volunteers with open arms into our peaceful, Christian home, offering warm meals, cultural exchange, and space to explore this magical part of the world 🌿🌍. Most people who come here leave with unforgettable memories — and some even return. We'd love to share this experience with you! 💛

Børselv is a small place sorrounded by beautiful nature. There is not much around, but you have a store nearby and couple of places to eat. Svanhild and Bjørnar were really nice, we learned a few things about Norway and could borrow some work clothes. We usually had warm meal for dinner and free access to kitchen and fridge for rest of the day. The work was manageable, but there is no schedule really. I would like to know at least the day before what needs to be done for better time managment. Other than that I had a good time at this farm, enjoyed the Norway nature and farm life .

Thank you, Karolina. The farmer and the volunteer exchange services. The volunteers may find that there is no schedule, while the farmer has a strict schedule. However, the daily schedule can change quickly due to the weather or the animals. Therefore, we ask for volunteers with a flexible approach. We would like to thank you again for good help. And we wish you all the best in your future.

The 2-weeks stay in Børselv was my first volunteering experience and I definitely don't regret! North Norway is so stunning and I really enjoyed the nature and the peaceful atmosphere. Still, there were a few I-wish-I-knew-before moments. The hosts are an elderly couple and they are nice. You will help them take care of their farm and sheep. The work we did was partially hard and exhausting and some days were longer than expected (with no more free time in return) - we had to prepare the farm for the return of the sheep for winter. The sheep are very cute and I enjoyed working with them! :)

Thanks. Farmwork has different seasons. When you were here it was important to prepare ready to take the sheep to protect them from predator attacks. It is always dilemma when we bring the sheep home never know how long it will take. At the same time, it is our intention to protect the volunteers from long and exhausting days. We can make plans with the sheep, but animals have different plan. That is why we are asking for volunteers with a flexible approach. We would like to thank you again
