Myklevik gård

We provide:
🏔 Stunning Location: Wake up to panoramic views of majestic mountains, forest and the sea. Our farm is located in the outskirts of Stamsund, a small fishing village in the middle of Lofoten. Find hiking trails straight from the farm, or go swimming at the secret local beach. 15 minutes walk from the farm is a grocery store, and a little further in the village a restaurant/bar. In your free time, explore the magic of the Lofoten islands!
👩‍🌾 Community Spirit: Join a diverse community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for sustainable living. Forge meaningful connections, swap stories around the campfire, and celebrate the joys of farm life with our volunteers and seasonal staff. However, we the farmers have four kids and a busy family life , and so will very rarely participate in the social life of our volunteers outside of normal working hours.
🍽️ Farm-to-Table Cuisine: Indulge in fresh, wholesome meals made from the bounty of our farm. Our volunteers are expected to take turns cooking, and when possible we all eat lunch together at the farm. The fridge and cupboard in the barn will be stocked with food to meet your basic needs to cook/eat three meals per day: Bread, jam, cheese, cooked hams, butter, olive oil, pasta, rice, salad/veg/meat from the farm, etc.
🏕 A place to sleep, eat, shower, wash your clothes... Accommodation may be at our farm house from 1849, the local hostel, or at a house nearby, depending on the time of year. You can use WIFI at the farm house, but it can not be guaranteed at the accommodation.
⛰ Lofoten's natural beauty provides the perfect backdrop for your adventure, offering endless opportunities for exploration and rejuvenation.
🧗‍♀️ Hiking in the mountains, climbing, fishing, swimming at the sandy beaches, kayaking..
☀️ Long summer days, the midnight sun never setting (end of May to mid-July), northern lights (September-March), winter storms and hurricanes...

2024 is the first year we have received volunteers at our farm, and it has been amazing to meet so many enthusiastic and wonderful young humans and to get to share this place! IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to Norwegian immigration authorities classification of volunteering as work and needing a work visa, we can not accept visits from a non-EU/EEA country. We will not assist in getting a work visa. Anyone from a non-EU/EEA country traveling with a tourist visa that is caught volunteering could face arrest, deportation, and a possible ban from the EU and Schengen zone.

I did not feel welcome by the hosts and the tasks were against my values. The other voulnteers were amazing and made my stay as nice as possible. They assured me my arrival was the worst time to join the farm and they all love being there. I truly belive them and maybe it just was bad timing for me..

Hi Sara,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with us didn’t meet your expectations.

Every volunteer's perspective is important to us, and while we don't believe your experience reflects the atmosphere we strive to create—or what many others have shared—we're constantly learning and evolving. Your feedback will be taken into account as we continue to improve how we welcome and onboard new volunteers.

Best wishes,
Åshild

I had a great time at Myklevik Gård. Åshild, Gisle, and the whole family were really nice and attentive. I absolutely enjoyed experiencing the Christmas period with them.
The working hours and free time were well-balanced, with plenty of opportunities to learn new things and then enjoy the rest of the day. Lofoten has amazing nature, so it was great to explore it with the other volunteers.
