My House

peaceful place to stay and enjoy the simple city surrouded by mountians .

plenty of time to do your own planning and rest .

with 2 bicycle to use for moving around and grab is convenient.

I am a simple person with just a son and a tenant staying with me. I love to show my city and my community to my volunteers and also to try the local food and way of life in a small city plus a village and wet market near my house.

Joe was soooooo generous and truly cared about showing us everything Ipoh had to offer. He made sure we were always comfortable, guided us in the garden without pressure, and shared his knowledge. At first, the frequent texts felt intense for me, but once you get to know him, you realize it’s just part of his personality ☺️! Cleanliness was also a bit of an adaptation at first, as the house/surroundings are maintained based on the volunteers’ presence (but no one had been there for the past last + month before us). Overall, it was a very meaningful cultural exchange. Thanks again !

Joe is truly one of the kindest people we've met on our travels. He welcomed us with an open heart. We had fun talking, laughing, and just sharing everyday moments. He’s independent and gives you space, but also takes time to bring you around, introduce you to locals, and share his love for his community.

While in Ipoh, I played futsal, pickleball, explored markets, tried local food, learned in the garden; all while enjoying a slower rhythm of life. Work is mostly gardening and done in the morning.
Only downside, the dogs outside can sometimes bark at night.

Thank you Joe for everything

If you're looking for a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, I highly recommend Ipoh. Joe is an exceptionally friendly and welcoming host who can guide you to all the town’s hidden gems—from affordable local eateries to popular tourist and cultural spots. Bicycles are available for use, and most attractions are easily reachable by bike. The only downside is that the house is close to a small airport, so you’ll occasionally hear and see planes taking off and landing.

My experience in Ipoh was really good, Joe is a friendly host, super flexible.
If you want to see a Malaysia lifestyle I recommend,
Ipoh have many options for food, probably one of the highlights.

Joe was an amazing host! He showed us around Ipoh, recommended lots of places to see and where to eat. He let us us bikes to move around the city. He has a big garden with lots of interesting fruit and veg. It was great to learn about them. He was giving clear instructions on what to do every day. He was a very welcoming and friendly host.
