Loch Torridon Estate ( Torridonia )

Dear Worldpackers

We live in Torridon, one of the most beautiful areas on the West Coast of Scotland. Our home is an old estate house made up of 150 acres of amazing old woodland on the shores of Loch Torridon.

Support with the Family household would be great - if you speak German ( not necessary but would be great since the children are bilingual ) and you have experience with children . ( 5,9,11)

We are also looking for someone who is good with DYI - we have some projects: i.e planned to build raised beds in the Polytunnel and around the house various projects.

Sarah and I are both musicians. Sarah plays the fiddle and is specialized in teaching Celtic Fiddle. I work as a producer and composer.
We moved to Torridon in 2015 and we are still in the process of developing the place. There are always jobs around the estate , and garden - so if you like being outdoors that ideal.

Torridon is a truly magical place and if you are looking for a true Scottish Highland experience you will come to the
right place.

Safe travels to everyone and all the very best.
Felix & Sarah

We are an open house and a lot of interesting people come by. We are well connected into the community so you will experience some real highland life. During the summer we will have house concerts and other cultural events. Of course our surroundings are stunning - so if you are an outdoors type you can enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes on the West coast of Scotland. If you are into woodwork or crafts - you can use our wood workshop to build and make things in your free time. We have had a different artists here staying with us painting, composing, writing. If you are interested to learn how to meditate we offer meditation instructions. Also we are very open for any project suggestions if you have skills that you could apply here - any idea are welcome.

Felix and Sarah are very nice. There’s lots to do work wise but they are very respectful the time they ask you to work, making each day productive. Jorge also was fantastic at managing the team while we were there. Would recommend anyone to go.

We have only positive things to say about Torridon. The estate is beautiful - the perfect place if you like a slower pace. The work/life balance is great. If you have unique skills, Felix makes a great effort to apply them to the work you do on the estate. The sense of community was one of our favorite things about this experience.

The only downside (for some) could be that the location is pretty remote (40 min drive to nearest public transport) and you will need to plan ahead, although Jorge worked with us to accommodate schedule changes and rides every time we asked!! :)

I felt like I was in a movie during the month I spent at Torridon (or in Outlander haha). The house, all the surrounding nature, the music, it was all incredible! Our work hours were organized and respected, the food was very good, we had time to explore the surroundings and we loved it! I highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves nature and wants a great volunteer opportunity. Thank you so much, Felix and Sara!
