LBSSCHOOL

Volunteering at my school offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students in rural Cambodia, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. Here’s why you should join us:

1. **Make a Lasting Difference**: Our school helps not only regular students but also orphaned and disadvantaged children. By volunteering, you'll directly contribute to improving their education and giving them a brighter future. Your presence and teaching will boost their confidence, especially in speaking English, and your influence will leave a lasting mark.

2. **A Chance to Learn and Grow**: Our school isn’t just about teaching—it’s a place where you, too, can learn and develop. You’ll gain hands-on experience in teaching, cross-cultural communication, and community engagement. Whether you're new to teaching or have experience, we provide guidance and support, allowing you to enhance your skills.

3. **Support and Collaboration**: Volunteers co-teach alongside local teachers who are there to assist you in the classroom. This collaboration enriches both you and our staff, and we encourage volunteers to share their knowledge with the local teachers, creating a sustainable impact.

4. **A Cultural Immersion**: You'll be welcomed into a close-knit community where you can experience Cambodian culture, hospitality, and kindness. From the classroom to everyday life, you'll engage with students, neighbors, and colleagues, making your stay unforgettable.

5. **Affordable and Comfortable Living**: We offer free accommodation with comfortable, clean rooms. For a small contribution, you'll enjoy nutritious meals, including local cuisine, or the option to cook in our dorm’s kitchen. We aim to provide a home-away-from-home atmosphere where you can relax after a rewarding day of teaching.

6. **Impact on Underprivileged Kids**: We secretly sponsor many underprivileged students, covering their educational materials, tuition, and even food. Your work here supports our mission of giving equal opportunities to all children, regardless of their background.

By joining us, you’re not just teaching—you’re changing lives, building connections, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you want to teach English, computer science, Chinese, or even Taekwondo, there’s a place for you here. We look forward to welcoming you!

At our school, we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all volunteers. Here’s what you can expect: 1. **Respect and Appreciation**: We value the time and effort volunteers invest in our students and community. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be treated with the utmost respect and gratitude for the important role you play in our school’s mission. 2. **A Supportive Teaching Environment**: You’ll never feel alone in the classroom. Our local teachers will co-teach with you, offering assistance with translations or guidance if needed. Whether you’re a seasoned teacher or new to the field, we ensure that you feel confident and supported in your teaching role. 3. **Warm Community Connections**: Our school is in a close-knit community where students, teachers, and neighbors will welcome you with open arms. The students are eager to learn from you, often engaging in conversations outside the classroom to improve their language skills and build their confidence. 4. **Comfortable Living Arrangements**: You’ll be staying in clean, comfortable accommodations. We do everything we can to make sure you feel at home, with bunked bedrooms and all the essentials. We provide three nutritious meals daily, with the option to enjoy local cuisine or cook your own meals in our kitchen. 5. **Open Communication**: We believe in open dialogue. If you ever have questions, concerns, or suggestions during your stay, we encourage you to share them with us. We’re here to ensure you have a positive and enriching experience. 6. **Opportunities for Personal Growth**: Beyond teaching, we encourage volunteers to share their knowledge with our local teachers, which creates opportunities for cultural exchange and professional development. You’ll grow not only as a teacher but also as a learner during your time here. In short, you can expect to be treated as a valued member of our school family, with all the support, comfort, and kindness you need to have a fulfilling and memorable experience.

Absolutely loved working with the children and the teachers there. I felt very welcomed and at home with them. The young teachers there are very passionate about what they do. They work long hours each day and spend their weekends at uni in Battambang to complete their teaching courses.I will miss the team and all the children greatly! The fascilities at the dorm were extremely minimal and not homely which i didnt expect from a team dorm. But it was managable even when there was no running water. I didnt have much contact with the host as he was very busy with the other campusses

Volunteering at LBS School was a great experience. The kids were curious, respectful, & excited to learn. I enjoyed leading the teacher trainings & connecting with my fellow English teachers in a fun and meaningful way. The school is in a rural setting, so the accommodation is basic with just a fan, and power or water may cut out during storms, but it is manageable and all part of the experience. Meals are local with a $3 daily budget and optional reimbursement. Salath is passionate and truly committed to creating a space where all kids can thrive. I would love to return someday!

I made friends with the local teachers who are caring and really hard-working, and I have learned a lot about local life in Cambodia - which I’m truly grateful for. The kids are also great and willing to learn (+ there’s an adorable dog). A special thanks to teacher Tharith, Binh and Rata.

The wifi is good, but it’s hard to work remotely with the teaching schedule. So I asked to change my hours - which mostly was ok.
The dorms are very basic and running water is not guaranteed. It's a 20 min. walk away from food stalls (remember food is not provided). There’s also no bikes.

I had a great time at LBS School. Saleth runs an extensive number of classes with the ambition to elevate the children’s language skills are provide them with more career opportunities. He is incredibly passionate and this shows in his commitment to the school. The teachers are hardworking and committed, the children are incredibly driven and eager to learn. The accommodation and school is in a rural location so perfect for someone wanting some quiet time to just focus on volunteering with the opportunity to explore Battambang city at the weekends. Great first experience teaching English!
