La Casa del Viento, Enguera, Valencia

So, we’ve hosted over 1000 volunteers in the past few years—either we’re doing something right, or they keep getting lost on the way out. 🤷‍♂️ A stay with us means good vibes, new best friends from around the world, and views so stunning you’ll question why you ever lived anywhere else. Oh, and let’s not forget the food—fresh, homemade, and so delicious you might start writing poetry about lentils.

Our sleeping arrangements? One shared room for 6 (because bonding), and two shared rooms for 3 (or for couples).

This is the good life—the simple, minimal, blissfully WiFi-optional life. If you’re looking for a McDonald's drive-thru, congratulations! You’ve taken a very, very wrong turn. We don’t do much meat here, but we do have enough legumes, seeds, and greens to make your gut microbiome sing with joy. Got a weird question? Ask away! We love weird questions.

Now, let me introduce myself. I'm Silvia, and for many years, I've been wrangling a sprawling eco-farm and hamlet in the Valencia mountains. It’s been a wild ride, but now we are onto my next adventure—creating a dreamy retreat space for travellers, wanderers, and beautiful people. We live in a 300-year-old Spanish farmhouse perched atop the Sierra de Enguera, surrounded by 62 hectares of rolling pastures, fruit and nut trees, jaw-dropping views, and enough hiking trails to make your legs question your life choices. Oh, and we have a friendly fox who thinks he’s one of the cats—yes. Welcome to our world! 😄

My time at Casa del Viento will truly be missed. Jay and Silvia made me feel right at home from the moment I made it to the house. The chores were very easy and you had a lot of free time to enjoy the nature. This was such a life changing experience for me as it was my first time in Europe. I made a ton of friends along the way and gained many skills. I came with some knowledge in BJJ but kept an open mind and was able to learn and train a bunch of different types of martial arts. Only word of advice I can give is have the ears to listen! So much to learn at casa de viento!

I had a life-changing experience at Casa del Viento and it’s all because of the environment that Jay and Silvia provide for volunteers. Each day, you can expect to participate in some kind of fun group activity, be surrounded by an abundance of nature, and enjoy delicious home-cooked meals. This experience is perfect for anyone who’s looking to gain new friends, martial arts training, time spent unwinding and reflecting, and a truly unique experience in an off-grid home. The work itself is very minimal, so you can enjoy each and every day here. This place will forever be in my heart! <3

My stay at La casa del Viento was just great. Silvia & Jay are so welcoming and friendly people, I felt so comfortable around them and the other volunteers. They also made sure that you have a perfect stay there.
The tasks were pretty easy and didn’t take long at all. It’s optional to go to the trainings, but it’s fun, especially the archery.
The nature around is just breathtaking, I can’t say much more!!
Tysm for everything Silvia and Jay :)

Staying with Jay and Silvia was an amazing opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and physically work on our bodies. My girlfriend and I knew very little martial arts coming into Casa del Viento but Jay and everyone else staying were very supportive and patient with us. We practiced boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, muay Thai, and judo. Every practice started with a run in the morning which helped set the pace for the training which would be right after or later in the afternoon. Household duties were shared equally amongst everyone. Jump into it fully and you’ll enjoy it. Also lots of cats!
