Indopackers
Travelers should choose to backpacking with us because our programs offer something far richer than typical travel — a chance to create real impact across Indonesia’s diverse island communities.
With projects spread across Bali, Lombok, Java, Borneo, and Raja Ampat, each location provides a unique blend of culture, environment, and community needs. Indonesia has over 17,000 islands, so we encourage backpackers to choose their placement thoughtfully. Every region is different — from mangrove ecosystems and rainforest villages to coastal classrooms and remote island communities.
No matter which location you select, you won’t just be passing through. Backpackers become part of the community, supporting local children through language learning, contributing to nature-based projects like mangrove restoration and stingless-beekeeping, and helping expand educational and environmental opportunities in underserved areas.
You’ll live close to nature, learn from local traditions, work side-by-side with villagers, and form genuine friendships with people who welcome you as family. Every moment — whether teaching, planting, cooking, or exploring — helps strengthen local livelihoods and protect the environment.
If you’re seeking meaningful adventure, cultural depth, and the chance to leave a positive footprint across Indonesia’s many islands, our programs offer exactly that — with the freedom to choose the place that resonates most with you.
We’re a small, youth-led team passionate about education, nature, and community development.
Our staff comes from local villages and nearby towns, and many are teachers, beekeepers, conservationists, scuba divers, or university students who grew up around the area and now want to protect them. We work closely with community members, parents, and local leaders to make sure every backpackers feels welcomed and supported.
Backpackers can expect to be treated like part of the family. From the moment you arrive, we help you settle into your cabin, introduce you to local customs, and guide you through the activities at a comfortable pace. We’re friendly, patient, and always ready to help — whether you need assistance with teaching, coral reef, travel buddy, understanding the culture, or simply figuring out how to open a coconut.
We believe in mutual respect:
We listen to your ideas.
We support your learning.
We check in regularly to make sure you feel safe, included, and valued.
And we share meals, laughter, and local stories the same way we do with long-time friends.
Our goal is to make you feel at home — not as a guest, but as a meaningful part of our community and the impact we create together.
