Hostel JAQ takamatsu

We have many international volunteers (about 5-8) with us as well as Japanese staff members. Come join our community for a chance to forge unforgettable friendships while experiencing local Japanese events. The staff and volunteers can enjoy dinner and chat with guests from all over the world.
The working schedule can be arranged to your preference! If you would like to take a day off, we can move your shift to another day. Hostel JAQ is located next to Ritsurin Garden, about a 30-minute walk from Takamatsu station and the ferry port that will take you to the islands such as Naoshima.

We have about 10 regular staff and normally 5-8 volunteers with us at the same time. Our staff are responsible for the work at the registration and cleaning while volunteers only help with cleaning. Outside of the working hours of 10am-4pm the volunteers are free to do what they want! Volunteers get dormitory beds in a room with other volunteers and are also offered discounted meals. Of course, the laundry and kitchen are free to use outside of busy hours! Sometimes the chef may need help with dinner or breakfast preparation and that will be paid by free meal or discount meal.

This was my first Worldpackers experience and it couldn’t have been better. Chizuru is one of the nicest and calmest persons I know, and Ryo is an incredible chef and incredibly nice too. Takamatsu is an amazing city to explore and the work hours are simple and respected, I would come back anytime if I had the opportunity! Thank you so much for everything!

I had an amazing experience at JAQ! It was my first worldpackers and it was a great first impression. I feel like the bar is going to be high for the next one. The staff are all super nice and social. This place truly feels so alive and warm. I spent one month and a half at JAQ and only after this small amount of time it feels like a second home. One of the great things about this place is the chef. He makes amazing food and is always happy to receive some help from the volunteers. Such an interesting and fun person. I felt immediately included in the team and the work is as described.

We had a great time volunteering at JAQ. The tasks are easy: cleaning rooms, common areas, and making beds. You usually meet lots of other volunteers, which makes it fun. The hotel staff are lovely, and you get the chance to practise and learn Japanese with them. We stayed for 19 days, and it felt too short because we had such a good time. The hostel is very well connected and there are many interesting places to visit nearby. They always try to give you several days off together, which allows you to travel. We will always be very grateful for the treatment we received. 💘
